Thanks. After dinner the women will sit at either the kitchen or dinning room tables and gossip, or head into the karaoke room. The men either go into the rec room to play pool and watch football, or sit at the bar in the karaoke room and bitch about the women’s singing. The kids head into the living room to play video games or go down to the playroom/computer room, and live on their smartphones. I’ll be hiding out in the basement with my tools and little TV, and savor some peace and quiet.Yeah, but it sounds like so much fun. I really like your traditions of big american family gatherings. And you have a great sense of humor!

We weren't going to do ours till the weekend, but it turns out that tomorrow we'll host for my niece and her husband, and also my 16-year-old nephew. The menu is simple and utterly traditional. Well, mostly traditional. My niece is doing the turkey, stuffing, and green bean casserole. I'm doing everything else.
Turkey (spatchcocked)
Sausage stuffing
Gravy
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Bourbon-laced candied sweet potatoes (not a marshmallow in sight, thankfully)
Green bean casserole
Yeast rolls
Gravy
Pumpkin pie with whipped cream
Brown butter pecan pie with rum and espresso ... with ice cream
