Hi, guys!

44 year-old father of three checking in. Been reading Uncle Stevie since I was a young lad in Junior High School. He's far and away my favorite author (although John D. MacDonald is not too far behind). My hardback collection of King books is one of my most prized possessions in life. I don't have many signed/limited books, but that's ok; first edition/first printings, or even Book-of-the-Month Club editions are more than fine for me. Just looking at those books on the shelf brings a big smile to my face. Thank you Mr. King for bringing so much joy and excitement to my life over the years. What a writer, what a career! Glad to finally be a member of his official website.

Long live the King!

Welcome to the SKMB! Just sayin', since I've heard horror stories(!) from folks who've lost their precious sK collections to fire or other circumstances, if you haven't insured yours I think doing so would be a good idea, especially since their obvious value to you is priceless.

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody! It's good to be among other Constant Readers. :)

I've toyed with the idea of getting it insured, but, really, most of them are not worth a whole lot (although replacing them would be a real pain). I think my highest-valued books are my BOTMC editions of Night Shift and The Shining. $50, if that. Mine's what you call a "gutter collection"; a hodgepodge of books procured from used book stores, goodwill stores and yard sales (along with some hand-me-downs from Mom). I know where every book came from and when. If something were to happen to them.... Bah, I don't want to think about it.
