How come there's never been a really good documentary about Stephen?

If they ever do another of these I would love to hear from some of the students he used to teach, would be interesting to hear what kind of teacher he was.
Seriously. Why do we never hear from any of his students? Or perhaps someone here has? I would love to know about his classroom. Just talking about his teaching days would interest me.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought you were talking about Stephen Sondheim.

I reckon Stephen King would have been a "Spare the rod; spoil the child" sought of teacher. But seriously, I think he would've been easy going ( except if he turned up to work with a hangover.) Mark.

There's something called Shining in the Dark.

But I can't think of any that you can actually buy on dvd, which would be nice to have. There is also World of Horror/This is Horror. I have it on tape, but is more about horror in general; it's basically a lot of movie clips and interviews from other sources. The Dario Argento bit is from Il Mondo dell'Orrore by Michele Soavi, for example. It's fun for the clips, but it is messy. Anyway, I don't think it's on disc.

I looked it up. Even though it was marketed as Stephen King's This is Horror, only the last part is about him. It is him talking about Woman in the Room and Frank Darabont. At the time though it was a good tape, because it was before dvd, so you basically never saw Making of's and few interviews with horror directors, stars etc. There is a lot of attention for Freddy Krueger, because he was the most popular horror icon of the '80s. But there's also Clive Barker, Texas Chainsaw, Hitchcock and Psycho etc. etc. It is about 4 hours. It reminds sort of World of Hammer (for some reason these things are all called 'World of...'): clips and a voice over commenting in between.

But Shining in the Dark is purely King. It's from 1999, so the same year as Green Mile which obviously gets attention. It's about 50 minutes, but I don't think it's on dvd.

I also remember, but this is probably impossible to find, a long, indepth interview programme from Belgian tv. A Belgian reporter sits with Stephen in his study and they watch clips from his films and talk in between. This is around 1987.

I also recall an interview with Bukowski from Belgian tv, which ends up in a bar, as you could have guessed with Bukowski calling: 'One more drink for my friend, the Belgian reporter!'

Just have him over for tea and cheesecake and ask " 'Sup?" ;-D
Yeah, I'll ask him over, "Stephen all you have to do is get on a plane and fly 2000 miles so you can talk to a dork (me) about what you got up to when you were 10 years old. Did you put firecrackers in people's mail-boxes and watch them blow up?" He'd be asleep in 5 minutes with me as the interviewer.

If he comes to your place (Aussie) without coming to my place (again) he will be gettin' an ass kicking.
Yes Moderator you can tell him I said so.

and New Zealand is a pretty small place, so if he comes to see Flake, I'm going to have to threaten a tantrum too. I think that's fair, after all I would visit HIM if I went there! :D

I get the distinct impression that many people who visit this this website could be part of Stephen King's extended family. From now on, I'm going to have to be really careful what I say, otherwise I might get a knock on the door at 2 in the morning. By the way, I know Stephen King has travelled Australia, has he ever been to Newcastle? Mark.

Not sure about Newcastle... you'd have to ask Moderator.
