It wasn’t until I was an adult that someone finally revealed to me the magic of hitting the 57. The clouds parted, angels sang...and I got some ketchup out of the bottle. Hallelujah!
But all those wasted years of not knowing and wacking the heck out of my palm on the bottle...!

Why don't you just shake the bottle well before squeezing/pounding? No juice. No problem.

I remember my friends sisters used to put mayonnaise in their hair for some reason though!
It made their hair shiny.
....and was easier to make a ham sammich.....
And smelly and greasy, I would suspect.
Blahhhh! Even thinking about the smell of that makes me want to
. I tried egg in my hair once, and same thing. I never realized eggs had a smell until then, and now I’ll never forget it. 
Oh my I like boiled eggs but even peeling them makes me a little quesy.
We couldn't afford the Heinz ketchup growing up although I always did relish the opportunity. We bought the cheap 'liquidy' stuff, so it was never an issue. Oh the problems of the idle rich...
