Same thoughts. Did she ever get that generator??
I'm not completely certain, but I don't think so?

I bought one a year ago and it's come in handy a few times already. I think the first time was within the first month after we got it so felt like it was money well-spent and very happy I'd finally decided it wasn't something I could put off longer.

If it turns out as predicted, there won't be any need to leave in the morning as schools will be closed which makes it a work at home day for me. More worried about power outage than actual snow accumulation (18-24" in the forecast) as it's a blizzard warning so the high winds could be a big factor. My partner is busy getting everything set up with the generator; I'll fill up the tub to have water for flushing the toilets; we have coolers to put in the food we'd use more frequently so won't have to use the fridge as often (although we can plug it into the generator, too); we have a gas range so can cook. Not our first rodeo. ;-D
Thought you might have him out there chopping the wood for the fireplace - sounds romantic!

We don't have a fireplace. We used to use a wood burning furnace but gave that up after a couple of winters as it meant going outside to fill it and realized we're too old to be messing with it; still have 3 cords of now very seasoned wood but no way to use it. We switched to a propane boiler--much easier to deal with although without electricity we're still without heat, hence the generator. :smile2:

Now the local weather has models that predict anywhere from 2/10th of an inch to 18 inches.

C'mon now, really?? They are determined to be right no matter how much comes.
Wouldn't be the first time they'd gotten everyone all hyped up about a blizzard that turns out to be a non-event. I'd love to have this be one of those that blows out to sea before dumping all that snow on us!

I have this corner electric one - puts out some heat.

:indecisiveness:

According to the comments, this guy is 'Frankie McDonald - The pride of Nova Scotia. Everyone seems to love him.

Reporting the weather:
Wow - it's gonna hit an awful lot of places in Maine, eh?
:umm:
"Be prepared the State of Maine - don't be caught in a massive blizzard! :onthego:"

:m_inspect: I wish it would snow here so I could skip work tomorrow!

Be safe, Ms. Mod

We had snow in Ohio, but not as bad as last year. Plus, I am not driving an HOUR to work and an HOUR back home. I now work at home. Yay! I just started that this week. Don't have to get up and go or send the kids over to before and after school care. Still love my snow tires though. Feel tons better when I drive in snow since I do have to actually leave my house sometimes.:sneaky:

Well, gee. According to the local news, our storm "underperformed"

We went from road closing, bridge closings, school closings - predict 18".

There is a dusting of snow out there. not even enough for a footprint. arrrrgh.

In my experience that's how it always goes. If they predicted just flurries that's when I would go to the grocery store and stock up, gas up the car, and do everything I needed to do before the big hit.
