Would your house insurance cover that? Or would they consider that "an Act of God?" (to get out of compensating those involved)
Heh! I should call them and ask...maybe by doing so the insurance companies would build a fire under this guy's ass. We had a rain on top of a 6" snowfall early in December...that layer is up there still, waiting. How the snow slides off his metal roof varies with snowfall, temps, so on so forth. But yeah...I've had some dealings w/snow & ice damages and insurance companies. Like this once, ma gets in an accident...they bring the car down to Dick Bond's...next day the insurance agent is on the horn with the old man...I found some used struts he says. The old man tells him I'm not paying you for used insurance. Like it is coming out of their pocket. I could go on and on. So yeah, based on past experience...
I've also installed the "snow-catchers" on other roofs...where the one neighbor convinced the other that this needed doing. I wonder what kind of weight is up there? Several tons no doubt...just waiting for the right temp change.
Or...I could tell the guy that in Colorado they use dynamite to avoid avalanches.
