I guess I forgot what it was like in Ontario, having lived out here for so many years now.
Out here it is a 'dry cold' whereas where you are it is more humid or wet due to the influence of Lake Ontario (I guess you are in southern Ontario?)
I lived there for the first 33 years of my life. Out here even though it is - 32 degrees C which is about - 26 degrees F today, it is not quite as bad. I remember that cold in Ontario used to feel like it penetrated right into your bones. We still get the awful wind chill of course, plus we have had SO much snow this year.
Stay safe, AnnaMarie and take care of you and yours!
I grew up two blocks from the lake. I live a bit further now, but still just a couple miles from it. I've lived in this city my entire life. I don't remember ever having an ice storm like we had before Christmas. I've never heard ice-quakes before.
This is not a normal winter. And our summers are breaking records.
Btw, they just opened the airport. Pearson has not been allowing take offs OR landings because of the cold. (No rain, no snow, no fog....just cold.). I don't think this has ever happened here either.
Even Costco has been limiting how much road salt people could buy. Stores have sold out. Not that it"s helping today.
