How do ya'll up north deal with this? and worse than this? We're just not equipped for such cold. 12F right now and I'm dreading going outside. I want to wear my fleece jammies and my long johns and turtle neck and flannel shirt with my mukluks to work. Would that be OK? No one but me and the money counters come in on Mondays anyway. I can't believe (@Spideyman ) that's it's going to be that cold in FL. Good Gan! Make it go away! Everyone up in Maine and Canada, you've got my sympathy now. I'm just in awe that people can actually live for months like this.

Life slows when the cold and snow set in. Looks like I don't have to go see the dentist this morning...not the dentist but the lady that cleans my teeth, Suzie...she's stuck at home...something about the garage door opener. Know that from experience as an opener I installed in December gets finicky when the single digit temps arrive, thinks something is obstructing the door, oh joy. And...was going to go and install a garage door today but at nine below I'm reconsidering that. Snow as usual, inch at most, the roads here in town are narrower what with the banks on either side. Be nice to see the sun again, more than the little we saw the day I bought a new snowblower. Had to put on the beaver-mittens this morning blowing snow and put the hood up on the down jacket as tis bitter cold. I guess I could mop the kitchen floor...that's another thing about weather like this...tracking in road salt/sand, boots piled up at the door, gloves mittens, hats, jackets piled up in the breakfast nook, one pair of boots on the boot dryer, those eye-opening puddles of snow-melt you find when you slip out of your slippers and reach for a dry pair of boots. Anyway, here I am all freshly bathed and scented with no place to go.

I thought that New England had it tough with cold and snow
'til I heard that Mid West temps are 24 below...
That's so cold that body parts will freeze and then fall off;
So cold that your lungs go into shock - you start to cough.

That's so cold that 16 people have already died;
So cold that some planes can't fly - folks have to stay inside.
Right now, global warming seems like it could be a plan;
Weather like this is not fit for neither beast nor man.

The news reports we're getting are big time scary... seriously people, please keep checking in with us because I'm not going to stop worrying until this polar blast thing has well buggered off.

Marsha? If you're supposed to be in office today and the roads are horrible... tell Steve, Flakes said "No, just no!" I'm not scared of him... much.
It's not so cold today. It's 32F with a high of 38F. This rain we're getting is freezing to the roads, and it makes for a splendid start to the week. :)
Tomorrow's supposed to cool down a bit, so at least there won't be anymore rain. I wish it just stayed cold...

Been 8C wet & windy here in the UK. Coastal towns getting battered by more high tides and on shore winds whipping up the seas, but people loonies still go out and film it.
One young 18 year photographic student missing believed drowned so far.

Five Feet?

Can you see Sarah Palin's house from yours in Alaska? :D
Ha,wasn't my idea to sign up for it,just,weather happens..this is an old type winter,no fun unless you are the skier,snowmobiler,etc type..hopefully the bulk of that snowfall misses me,the persistent area is about ten miles south,and they get hammered every year,but a slight change in the wind means I look like nanook of the north..

Wow - how do you cope with something like that. Our schools are closed tomorrow: no snow, no ice: just too cold to go out of the house.
No fun,that is for sure,am sure Ms Mod can commiserate..would rather have snow than the deep freeze,it got to minus 12 and a windchill of forty one below last week..hate the cold,may have to go live with Spidey and be her flunky.. I work cheap but would leave green fingerprints on the book pages.. :grinning:
