You are too kind! You didn't miss anything-I occasionally let my guard down and sporadically talk about something personal here. It seems to be happening more and more all the time... I have a 15 year old dog named Sadie. She has had health problems for the past 7 years. Pancreatitis, colitis, IBD, chronic anal gland issues...It might sound like I'm one of those dog owners who keeps their pets alive out of selfishness, but believe it or not-my girl has more good days than bad. I'm trying to keep the "quality" aspect a priority even though it's excruciating to think about having to make that decision at some point. I beg God all the time to let her move on when she's ready so I don't have to make that call. Anyway...for the last three months (?) or so, she's had recurring UTI infections. The first time they thought it was gone, only to have it return with a vengeance several weeks later with her urinating blood for two straight days. She was on antibiotics for three weeks and had probably half a dozen urinalysis tests run in that time. Finally last week, tests were clear of blood, red & white blood cells, crystals, etc. I've been testing her urine at home and a few days ago the strips showed a possibility of blood again. Had the vet test a sample yesterday and they did find a trace of blood, but I gave her an extra dose of her anti-inflammatory med as recommended by her vet and today the blood was gone! I just have to stay on top of the testing, since everything can change in a moment's time. I was given "worst-case scenario" many times-always a possibility of the "C" word in her bladder, glands, etc. Fact is, I would never put her through chemo or any of that anyway-and since there is nothing outside of that I'm not doing right now anyway...Most people don't understand those of us who consider our pets as family-just as important as a human being and a life worth fighting for. I read somewhere that when you save someone, you become responsible for that life. I rescued her and will not give up just because it's too expensive or inconvenient. When I lost my husband, my mother-in-law, and my father, she was the only thing that made me get out of bed every day-made me concentrate on something other than my own pain. I rescued her and she's saved me time and time again. Until it is not in her best interest, I will continue to fight with her and for her-she's the closest thing to an angel I've ever known.
Hi, morgan. So much in yer post reminds me of my experience with my boy (dog) Bo, who was diagnosed with bladder cancer after repeated antibiotics for blood in urine were ineffective, and a subsequent CT bladder scan revealed tumors. Vet told me not to expect Bo to last very much longer, but I had him for two years after.

You're obviously a great pet owner. I pray with you that God intervenes however and whenever He chooses to. If you have to make the decision, know that we've got your back. Everyone was here for me when I had to take Bo in that night. But I had to do it because I'd determined not to let him suffer once I realized the cancer had finally won. He was unable to get up off the floor on his own, and he'd started to yelp. That was it, I took him to a 24 hr vet hospital and let him go. Having been through this with my previous dog made the experience with Bo a little easier. But it still sucked. I just know that it was absolutely necessary, and remind myself he's better off, and that I will without a doubt see him again in our shared clearing, just like all other family members.

(((((morgan))))) You lost your husband, mother-in-law, and father. Condolences, thoughts and prayers.

I am happy today because I finally found a pot I can use on a glass-top electric range that makes perfect popcorn :) I used to make popcorn in a cast iron pot on our old gas range and I was disappointed I couldn't use cast iron on glass-top stoves. A new stainless steel pot I bought imparted a metallic taste :( Pots are not made as well as they used to be :( A few days ago I ordered a Lodge 4.5 quart enamel covered cast iron pot. It works great! You don't even have to shake the pan (which might scratch the glass-top). You do have to be careful not to drop the pot on the glass-top (or your toes!) this booger is heavy!

Okay you guys-this is waaaay too awesome not to share. I just called my credit card company to make a payment by phone. Well, something didn't jive and I had to talk to a CSR. She got on the line and was a total breath of fresh air-friendly, bubbly, personable. After we took care of the business at hand she said, "Is there anything else I can do for you, Morgan?" I said, "Yeah-make sure you check out Stephen King's new book Mr. Mercedes. It was just announced it's going to be a possible trilogy!" She said she didn't even know he had a new book and thanked me. Told me she was reading Bag Of Bones right now-I shrieked and told her that was my all-time favorite book and asked her if it was her first time reading it. She said she's read it numerous times and the book is pretty much shot. I told her I've gone through three copies! We laughed and she thanked me again for telling her about Mr. Mercedes and making her day! It definitely made MY day! =D

We have one of those glass or ceramic top stoves - hubby's idea and he is a chef so go figure. I hate that stupid stove! (I actually bought a two burner hotplate so I could still use my black cast iron frying pan). It sits on a table by the window and looks kind of weird but I did not like the idea of giving up my favourite frying pan.

That is a KA-incidence! (very neat - I just finished The Wastelands last night). (do you think I should move on to the next book or wait a while?)

I read them all back-to-back about 3 years ago! But there are those who read them as they were published and waited YEARS in between. I finished them shortly before TWTTK came out and read that one right away too.

Don't forget the sunscreen and have a wonderful vacation!
:tounge::yes_pig::clap:
Oh gosh! Has it really been a whole week already? The ogre and kids are out beach walking right now. I'm gathering things and getting ready to go home. It's been wonderful. I'm going to sneak back down here by myself for my birthday weekend. This is my happy for today.

I am super happy today because all went well when I and my boyfriend went to the feast. I met Juho's cousins, his grandfather and many other
of his relatives. Oh I was so nervous, but everyone was kind and asked and talked. Juho and his family wanted a family portrait and of course I was
there in the picture too with him and his family. It seems like his parents have accepted their new daughter in law, even if we aren't married yet.
So happy ;-D

Sounds wonderful - does it feel like you have "come home" with his family? Congrats on all that has happened - he sounds like a real "keeper"!

Yes it does Neesy. Every time when I'm at his parents house (I've been there couple of times) it feels like a second home for me. I've eaten with my
boyfriend at his parents house two times already. I met his sister last night for the first time. (She lives in another city) Her name is also Johanna. Kinda
funny. :wink2: She was also very nice and easy to talk with. His whole family is wonderful.

I'm happy because I choose to be...there's a lot in life to be happy about. :smile2:

I returned back from Greece last week, I was there for four weeks. I had planned on moving back to Greece this summer but was talked out of it by the people I work with...but once I arrived "home" I realised I'd made a huge mistake. I'm not happy with life here so I came back and quit my job. A big step, and life changing, but I feel it's the right decision. Long story short, I return to Greece on Wednesday, where my only plan is to take every day as it comes, and enjoy life.
