The last time my regular worker guy was over was on Friday. On Saturday when he didn't come I moved a lot of stuff myself and felt ruined until Wednesday. When he finally did come back, we went around the yard looking at what should be done and where and while out I did some cleaning. I then went to the drug store and thrift store. Almost every time I go out someone exclaims about my cast, so apparently the entire town didn't know about my accident!

My helper dude started cleaning the rain gutters, needed a tool, we looked through my stuff and finally I drove him to his house to get something which would work better. While we were out we stopped by the hardware store. I'd driven through the cemetery once since getting the walking cast, but hadn't made it to the graves at all, and since the first spring bulbs are up, we visited the graves of the main three friends and relatives I tend, as well as a relative of his. We did a very little picking up as everything looked mostly very nice.

The scabs finally came off my stitches except one diehard. After some time of washing the leg in warm water, I could not remove it so finally hacked the sucker off with scissors. Felt much better.

I hope you enjoy it. I probably have to wait till it comes out as dvd because I do not have the channel where it is supposed to run here in germany.
I have heard it is very good so far (judging from the opinions of many on this board from the 11/22/63 thread).

How's the weather in Germany niro ? :haha::howdy:

3C and cloudy. I am in the library and I am happy because they give us students blankets so we do not have to freeze. Sounds worse if you write it we probably have 20C in here but when you only sit and type it's getting cold.:0:

I just hope it really is only one season and they do not make the same mistakes as with Under the Dome.
Yes - UTD got pretty ridiculous near the end of the series :hopelessness::disgust:

Also I am happy that when the ladder went out from under my helper yesterday he only hit the rock garden and not the picket fence. This horrible TV cable which has been uselessly attached (we've had DirecTV for six years) fell across the shed roof and although I told the cable guy it needs to be removed he hasn't sent anyone to do it. I met the guy who does that work while in a store--he struck up a conversation as he was interested in why I was on crutches--and now it looks as if it may be taken down after a year or more of asking.

Sometimes you win. and today, we did.

We've been looking for a new Kitchaid mixer. I have one that is probably more than 10 years old. We bought the largest motor they had in the store the day we bought it, about 350. But now that I make bread regularly, it's really making the the motor work hard. I also wanted the kind that raises the bowl, rather than tilting up. (That make sense?)

So far the best we could find was the bowl lifts, motor about 375, for about $400. Today we were at Cosco and decided to look there. Got one that the bowl lifts, motor is 1 HP  and it was only $320.

But this thing is huge. It's going to take up half my kitchen counter space.

Once a year the American Association of University Women holds a three-day book sale in Walla Walla, the bigtime town 30 miles away to which since November I have been only driven by others for medical procedures and appointments. I was all set to go on Friday, but was talked out of it because although it is not against state law for me to drive in a walking boot, I am supposed to have a physician's okay and when I called the doctor's office they said he would have to examine me during my appointment on Monday and let me know then about driving...and the sale is over on Sunday. Then there was wind and rain in sheets, and my right hand hurt so bad for so long I had to go to a doctor for shots.

Today my worker was sick again and could not come over, and since it was perfect weather and I had some scratch ticket winnings, figured it would be so wrong not to go to the sale. I had half a miniature wagon I swiped out of the dump last summer, after going to an antiques show and seeing the obscene prices on old metal wagons, $40 for a whole one and $20 for a half one, I figured it was a shame to let this go to waste even though the handle and front wheels were gone and the front was crushed. I fixed a cardboard box which fit the back exactly.

When my sister was here she got from a drawer where I keep it a bag of various types of padding so I could stick a shoulder pad down the front of my cast and I said just leave the whole bag, something else might come in handy. So I took the end of an old knee pad to put between the end of the scooter and front of the wagon so the wagon wouldn't scratch the scooter, and tied the whole contraption together with a length of plastic rope. When I got there, the parking lot was full so had to park at the side and go in a side entrance. Lo and behold, there was this mirror covering the whole wall so was able to take a selfie while leaving and show how wicked I was hauling my stolen wagon around on a rented scooter with contraband purchased at a book sale I wasn't supposed to drive to myself. The people were very nice and offered help but I didn't need any. I was out over six hours and felt fine all day although my leg hurt in a few places and my ring finger is still half numb. I feel silly asking for a ride Monday but the doctor's office said he seemed to expect me not to drive and I don't want them being put out at me for anything.

Was looking on the Kitchenaid website for something. The mixer I bought, is priced at $799.

:big_money:

Today, went to Staples to look for Fabric markers. They were cheaper than other places I've looked, so I picked up two packs. One is 10 fine tip, the other is 8 wide tip. The 8 pack rang up a dollar cheaper than it was labelled. So I went back and bought a second.

(For dil's baby shower I am picking up blank onesies and bibs and fabric markers so people can decorate one or two for the baby. It's better than the old fashioned shower games, and the baby gets some clothes.)

I'm glad that your scabs came off and that your helper dude sounded helpful.

On February 22 my neighbor drove me to town so I could consult with the doctor. He gave me an ankle brace, but it's a complicated lace-up and Velcro contraption which has to be squished on inside a shoe, and I don't feel enough support above the ankle to feel steady unless holding onto something. My friend and I went to a Ranch Supply store where I pushed the cart the entire time. I'd really like something that slips over and around the top of the shoe and provides support further up the leg. In the meantime I am still wearing my rather cumbersome walking boot.

With our ridiculously early spring, the ranch store was selling bedding plants for 99¢ apiece so I bought six viola pansies--by far the earliest I've ever had them. Today I put them in a planter. Right now I could probably leave them out overnight, because a pansy which sprouted from those I had out last year is now blooming! I am not taking chances, though. I bought a doll stroller for $1.00 at the thrift store and attached that to the two-wheeled toy wagon, and haul some of the plants in that and the rest in the full-size wagon, out to the ramp every day, leave them there until around supper time, then take them into the kitchen for the night. This can keep up till we set up the plant shelves in the kitchen. Then if we have a cold snap I can just leave them there for as long as it lasts.

Snowdrops are going past, crocuses well out, and tulips and daffodils starting. Forsythia and other flowering bushes are budding. I spent a lot of my time outside tying up the new little forsythia and cutting dead wood out of the large old one which is at least fifty years old.
