On February 22 my neighbor drove me to town so I could consult with the doctor. He gave me an ankle brace, but it's a complicated lace-up and Velcro contraption which has to be squished on inside a shoe, and I don't feel enough support above the ankle to feel steady unless holding onto something. My friend and I went to a Ranch Supply store where I pushed the cart the entire time. I'd really like something that slips over and around the top of the shoe and provides support further up the leg. In the meantime I am still wearing my rather cumbersome walking boot.

With our ridiculously early spring, the ranch store was selling bedding plants for 99¢ apiece so I bought six viola pansies--by far the earliest I've ever had them. Today I put them in a planter. Right now I could probably leave them out overnight, because a pansy which sprouted from those I had out last year is now blooming! I am not taking chances, though. I bought a doll stroller for $1.00 at the thrift store and attached that to the two-wheeled toy wagon, and haul some of the plants in that and the rest in the full-size wagon, out to the ramp every day, leave them there until around supper time, then take them into the kitchen for the night. This can keep up till we set up the plant shelves in the kitchen. Then if we have a cold snap I can just leave them there for as long as it lasts.

Snowdrops are going past, crocuses well out, and tulips and daffodils starting. Forsythia and other flowering bushes are budding. I spent a lot of my time outside tying up the new little forsythia and cutting dead wood out of the large old one which is at least fifty years old.

Still in the grip of winter where I live - sounds lovely to be able to plant so soon!

I won again. :m_stretch:

I have been picking up stuff for people to decorate at the baby shower. I started with two packages of onesies, three in each (so 6) and a package of ten bibs.

Then, I bought the fabric markers and got two packages on sale.

Today I went to a store I pop into at least once a week just to see if they have onesies in stock. Today They did. They are long sleeved and bigger than the ones I previously bought, should fit fall and winter. Also, they came in various light colours. AND they were $1 off, so I bought four.

When I got home I opened one of the packages of three that I started with....and they are packages of four, :m_spin:

I'm ready!

OK, so I finished my first short play! I still have to do some second or third edits, but I finally got it done. I am going to submit it for an 8x10 festival. I am excited because I am trying to get that off my bucket list. A fiction-type work published. I highly doubt anything will come of this, but I can say I finished something and at least someone will read it. I have been feeling inspired this year more than ever. Actually it might be due to being part of the Stephen King Halloween story. It was neat to get involved in writing other than what I do at my job. It provided me with some confidence to try again.

On Tuesday I went to Walla Walla to pick up a prescription my doctor wrote for a left ankle brace. They didn't want back the one which didn't work for me although I'd worn it only an hour or two as it was "used." I posted on a Facebook group asking if anyone wanted it.

After taking the prescription to several places, I found only one would take my insurance, but would do so only if I had an appointment, so I had to make an appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday I started early, drove to a town in Oregon and started working my way back through secondhand and thrift shops. Since no one wanted the brace, I gave it to the Walla Walla Goodwill. I found a secondhand store in Oregon new to me with some old and rare items which will surprise the socks off a friend with whom I collect and trade. The man sold them to me cheap, said he had more where that came from, and would save them all for me!

This greatly made up for my disappointment with my appointment at the medical equipment place. They can't give me anything till my doctor fills out a lot of detailed paperwork, I must wait for this and then make another appointment. I greatly enjoyed my trip and am looking forward to the next one! I also picked up some garden items!

Just saw the epic second trailer for Captain America: Civil War. Oh my god, massive geek-gasm. Too many Marvel legends to count. And frickin Spidey! Oh my stars and garters!

Now if they could just work out the rights to have the X-Men flicks join the Marvel Cinematic Universe--imagine the banter between Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Downey's Tony Stark.

Excelsior!
