We have sensitive cats and the occasional grandchild around our house, so we don't like to use most pesticides. A product called Orange Guard works well and it pet/child friendly. It's basically orange peel extract. A bit pricey, but worth it to us. Google it to find where it's available.

...yeah, well there is that whole "roasty-toasty" apartment thing...guess I wasn't looking at the big picture honey....maybe just a lighter and a can of hairspray instead?....Scott- I don't think I will try this, I maybe get rid of them at once, but I also get rid of my apartment at the same time. I had this same problem last year - hubby was trying to compost, and we had thousands of the buggers. Here is a no-fail solution:
Get an old mayo jar, put about 1" of apple cider vinegar in it and 1-2 drops of Dawn, and swirl it around. Then make a cone with a sheet of paper and put it in the jar so that the paper doesn't touch the vinegar. They will swarm to it - I promise. It worked like magic.
