I am bummed today because the corn is not ready, and Holly wants to compare tomatoes, and I tried on a bathing suit that I ordered online.

Need more tomatoes.
We're trading tomatoes! You can have mine, I'll have your's. Wrap them well, send them to me.

I love that dog. Poor guy.

Do you have tomatoes already? Just no corn? Or neither? When will you get watermelon? Everything seems late this year.
Or maybe I'm just Jonesing really really bad.

....Bacon......thank you, that is all....
You got no bacon? That is a big bummer. That is enough to get me out to the grocery store asap.

No tomatoes yet, asparagus is in - but this thread forced me to go buy the ones you guys eat, anyway. :offended: And corn. It's a deal.

I hear you,I haven't had miracle whip since being a kid..but it worked back then it is a different taste from hellman's..have you heard of cooler corn? You pour boiling water over ears of corn in your standard or small cooler, close it,let it sit for ten or fifteen minutes, and done to perfection and will keep it hot for cookouts..

Good idea. The problem with corn on cob is that people tend to overcook it. Boil for a little while is all. Spread liberally with butter, garlic, salt and pepper.

Just omg.
My Hispanic boyfriend made a version of this for me several weeks ago. He boiled corn in the husk with some some herb leaves, chicken bouillon and salt for a long time. Slathered it in mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese and red pepper. Took him forever to get me to even try it...was the best stuff I've ever eaten. I had never heard of it. I took pictures coz it was so good.

A little bummed today. All my potato plants seem to have died. I dug in the dirt and found one little spud. I named it Bob. I think that's all I'm going to get this year. And maybe one banana pepper. But since I've been cursed since birth with a brown thumb, I consider this a success. I'll keep trying it. And the hibiscus is still hanging in there. And Grampa's still kicking - whenever we go to Tall Guy's gramma's house, she rips up half her yard for me to bring home and plant. She broke off cuttings of a plant that TG's great grandfather planted many moons ago. I stuck it in the dirt and it's still green. *knocks on wood* So, while I was hoping for a bumper crop of potatoes, I guess I'll settle for one. And a little hope for next year.

We do mayo, chili powder, lime, and cotija cheese. Try it!

I'm bummed because I no longer have the energy to panic.

For many years now I've been aware of people wishing the death of me and all like me. From 1971-2004 I always had an answer (internally anyway) that once I did something truly spectacular so that enough people approved and the rest couldn't deny it, I'd have earned a place in this world. It won't ensure my survival but it would at least make it wrong for anyone to deliberately arrange my death.

Since 2004 I've had my doubts about being able to do anything spectacular enough. Since 2013 I've been virtually certain I can't. On November 9 not only were any lingering doubts trumped, I became aware of exactly how many people wish me and my kind gone--more than enough to do something about every one of us, obviously. I guess my best hope now is some sort of movement to join actively opposing these forces. I don't approve of rioting in the streets so I hope someone comes up with something positive I can get behind. I doubt it, though. I am having a very hard time accepting my own doom and that of anything resembling civilized society. It's the end of an era and the death of a dream. I appreciate you all here.

Bummed today because kiddo had such a meltdown* this morning, I couldn't even put him on his bus.

* meltdown does not equal temper tantrum. Meltdown takes on a whole different personality. His pupils dilate, he exhibits super human strength (he is tiny, but it takes at least 2 adults to restrain him during a meltdown) and there is nothing that can stop it until he does. The worst part is you never know how long it will last.
This one lasted 92 minutes.

Now playing quietly in his room like nothing even hapened, but that isn't a guarantee that there won't be more.
I just keep praying.
