This is scary to watch. Those reporters out there in the middle of it. Why do they do that? Saw one of them start to say something.. ran away and camera shut off and switched to another. This was CNN

Its unreal and they are doing it on every channel. My daughter has been recording all these guys since Hurricane Harvey shes very amused when they get blown around while theyre talking and just earlier today, she said, 'Omg theres 'Steve' again!'

Around my land are mostly pines and scrub oaks and more pines. The land has been left native. One holly tree, and NJ cedar not close by.

Pine trees don't usually fall over but the limbs break off and pine tree limbs are really heavy. We have all of these trees that grow like weeds that were imported here. Australian Pines and Brazilian Pepper Trees get huge and have shallow roots. Not a good recipe for high wind.

I've been watching CNN's livestream for most of the evening. My siblings and their families are hunkered down in Orlando, waiting on it. For those of you going through this right now, I hope you all get through this okay. Take care of yourselves as best you can.

Spokane just sent off a work crew with trucks from the electric company to head on down to Georgia or another area depending on which path Irma takes in the next 24 hours. This is payback for all of the crews from other states that came here to help us get the power back on when we experienced one of the worst wind storms ever to hit this area two winters ago. Some areas were out of power for two weeks. My bestie stayed with me every other day just so she could get warm and have a hot shower.

I heard that! Been through two ice storms, the second one lost power for over two weeks..fortunately had hot water through natural gas,but no heat or power,nothing..it was rough but you get used to it..

This is what our South Hill area looked like minus the ice. It's not even a big area but it still took them two weeks to get it all put back together.

Our was all over the northeast,NY,VT,ME and up into Canada..so much work the power guys, and of course all the lines were iced up until it melted..thank god it didn't get really cold,or my pipes would have frozen too..really feel for those losing power in FL,hopefully it will be less than what has been projected..

Sept 10 is national firefighters day in Canada. Let us say a lil prayer for all the uniformed folks in Florida who are working really hard right now to help people.

we're starting to get the outer edges. wind gusts and light rain so far. it's going to do what it did for everyone else and sit over us for about a day and a half all told, it looks like, but for us, fortunately it will be weaker. some flooding possibility (but not at my house probably), some potential for tornadoes, i think especially because we'll be on the east side of it. i went out and got groceries earlier today so i could hibernate for a couple days, i was low on supplies. the gas shortage was in full swing though, couldn't get any. but i don't have anywhere i need to go, so i'm good there.
