Not really, I have always been on the dark side. I sat wedged next to my dad on the couch when I was seven years old watching IT and Pet Sematary, followed by The Exorcist. Now I'm 21 and have burned through everything worth watching. Horror movies lost their value and because I was exposed to best so early, I've been disappointed with the horror movies of recent years. I also wrote all of my college papers that I could on the horror genre with lots of praise! Eventually I may try and craft a work of my own, maybe a short story?
Anyway, I never really read outside of school my whole life. Nonetheless, I researched and found The Stand to be his most praised story and finished the uncut edition yesterday. I found the ending anti-climatic, but overall satisfied with my first read (and a huge one at that).
I splurged on a bunch of books today, not deciding what to venture into next.
I got
Salem's Lot
Delores Claiborne
The Shinning
The Exorcist (I know it's not King, but the movie changed the life of my probably around 9 year old self...hehe...)
I might read the Exorcist first as it is shorter and different from King, but I want reccomendations of work I diddn't consider and have never heard of. I am saving IT to read later (This was my favorite King movie) and The Dark Tower series for later, looking for some lighter reads at the moment. Plus, I don't want to exhaust all of 'the best' ones right away. Glad I decided to start reading and I hope the boards are active so I can share my thoughts with everyone!
