Just a few thoughts from a regular Jen

Well, when people think of me they often think immediately of Hot Topics. I don’t understand why if the Hot Topics area makes people uncomfortable, or certain people do, it isn’t just avoided and the people just ignored. I tired to find out if I was part of the problem. Maybe those people I communicated with are just too kind, because I still see posts like this keep coming up, and I can’t help but think some of it is directed at me. I know there are times a post I make causes things to spiral downward and out of control. I might not be the problem, but I obviously contribute to it. Perhaps I should take a time out from the SKMB and see if things cool off. I don’t want to be the cause of people leaving. And I do feel sorry for the mods being forced to read what transpires from my posts. If nothing else, taking some time off would be an affirmation one way or the other to see if it’s me that's the problem.

Hot Topics are like the flame to the moth. People just can't resist reading- whether they participate or not. Sometimes they allow some negative vibes in those topics to influence their posting in other areas.

I had seen a post from Flake about this theme. But I avoid the Hot Topics section mostly so I hadn't had a clue either.
I think the moderators have to make a decision if the Hot Topics section gonne be closed or not.
Maybe our moderators need a vacay it's a lot of work to moderate here I guess.

I haven't noticed anything unusual either. The Hot Topics get a little contentious at times but I haven't noticed anything horrible.

I don't see how you could be considered a problem. You give your opinions and are respectful to others (except to Hoss - but you guys are just having fun with each other) when you disagree.

DIO! No! You must stay. The hot topics are for that. I see the problem as when feelings and attitudes FROM the hot topics spill over to the main part of the board, that's where the problem is. I expect lots of heat in the Hot Topics, but the rest of the board is for other things.
