I am sad to report that our Pudz has been in the "wars".
She went out fit and well on Friday lunchtime, but turned up at 5.30 pm with a great hunk of fur missing and an open wound on her right back leg.
She was not limping or bleeding, but it looked really nasty.
She was on the Vet's examination table by 6.20 pm, and he reckoned she had caught herself on a nail, or barbed wire, while jumping.
She was admitted, and kept over night to have the wound cleaned and stitched.
I collected her Saturday afternoon, along with a seven day course of tablets and instructions to keep her in for 5 days.
Pudz is very much an outdoor cat, only dropping in to eat most of the time.
So you can imagine she is miserable, constantly pacing the house from room to room looking for a way out.
As you can see Pudz looks a fright, as she has a number of shaved patches and lovely conical Piorrot collar to stop her worrying the stitches! Much to her disgust.

She is managing to eat and drink with the collar on, with a little help from me with a spoon!:O_O:
Pudz has a follow up appointment on Monday afternoon, when hopefully she might "lose" the collar.
Assuming she hasn't managed a Houdini before then of course!

Thanks Flake, my reference to Pudz doing a Houdini was referring to her escaping from the collar!
We are being extra careful by trying to keep her two doors away from the outside, so there is always one closed between her and freedom.

Motorboat had to wear one of those for a while. She seemed ok with it, considering. May Pudz heal quickly.

Oh, dude.....been there and done that with a kitty who looked like Frankenstein after the vet was done with him.
He hated his Collar of Shame, too, and had to be quarantined for three weeks. Joy. Not. It was like having a toddler with a bad case of cabin fever.
I learned with Mao that I could take a luncheon-sized paper plate, cut through to the center from the side, cut out a space that would go around his neck, and put it on him temporarily while he was eating. It was easier for him to eat with that temporary collar on (smaller, less angle). I'd then put the proper Elizabethan Collar of Shame back on him.
I distracted him with toys when he wasn't sleeping: catnip sachets, a string tied to a crumpled aluminium foil ball, a long length of material that I could drag through the house so that he'd chase me, anything to help him release energy.
The bottom line, though, is that she needs to heal - and it's a wise vet who told you to keep her indoors while she recuperates. Poor thing.
Good vibes coming to both of you from across The Pond. :)

Oh no! Poor baby girl. I hope she heals up fast. She looks totally dejected in that picture.

Thanks folks for your best wishes, and Lily for the advice.
At the moment Pudz is still pretty much in shock at the indignity of wearing the conical collar to be distracted by anything other than an open door escape route;;D, but perhaps later on.
But it amazed me just how dependent on their whiskers cats are.
I know cats have a problem with close focus, but with the collar on Pudz whiskers are out of action.
So she spent all last evening walking round the house bumping into things. She is adjusting now, and getting better at judging distance without whiskers.
Poor old thing.

Their whiskers are as wide as their bodies and are their feelers, especially in dark spaces.
I think on a certain level she knows she's not quite up to snuff yet.
She's really quite beautiful - I can't see where her boo-boos are in the picture you posted, but I recognize that look on her face: disgusted, bewildered, and frustrated.
She'll be back to Prowling Queen before you know it. :)
