I see people ***ing out part of their cuss words here. I presume that means we have a language filter? Really? On a STEPHEN KING website?!? LOL

There is a language filter as we do sometimes have younger members. Also because Stephen's name (& this website) may come up during the course of research for school projects, we just prefer to err on the side of caution.
As embarrassing as the fact might be to us adults there's something attractive about self-control in speech.Normally I object to any and all forms of censorship, but not here--I rather like the fact that folks can't cuss up a storm. See, I've did other sites like this (sorry, SKMB, you're not my first, *blush*), ones that had free reign to spew whatever filth comes into their head, and what you wind up getting is just a bunch of confrontational snarky a-wholes (mostly kids) just waiting to rain down upon anyone making any kinda comment about anything. Nothing intelligent gets discussed, just a load of brainless frat-humor cruelty.
Well that's not the way we do things 'round 'ere, issit?
Honestly? It's lucky that there is because my mouth... needs this:As embarrassing as the fact might be to us adults there's something attractive about self-control in speech.
Maybe, but you don't spew it here. Your fingers aren't out-of-control speech instruments. "Bad" words have their place in society, imho, but they can too easily become just another obnoxious bad habit impinging on what an intellect needs to say and learn. Also, they seem to tend to feed already inflamed emotions; their use can be like the opposite self-control.Honestly? It's lucky that there is because my mouth... needs this:

Self-control in general is highly attractive. As embarrassing as the fact might be to us adults there's something attractive about self-control in speech.
