Ladies And Gentlemen, The Rolling Stones (1974)

This is a concert film of a Stones 1972 concert. This was out of circulation for many years and was just released a couple years ago on dvd and blu-ray. The Mick Taylor era Stones were the best and this is an awesome concert film.

When I was a teenager, other than these concert films, there was no way to see bands (no youtube or music TV stations) without going to a show. These concert films were very popular and used to play on the midnight movie circuit. Many theaters ran midnight movies with films that appealed to teens. This one and the Pink Floyd at Pompeii were very popular and I saw them many times.

Pacific Rim :) Pure fun. Monsters fighting robots, that darling little Asian girl, and Idris Elba. How could you go wrong? ;) Yeah, not everything made sense, but Del Toro knows how to entertain. Especially liked the thought of the dinosaurs being the aliens' first stab at conquering the planet--that made me laugh. Charlie Day was grating, but he always is. All in all, I really enjoyed it.

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)- This movie was something. Definitely unique and ambitious. Micheal Keaton plays a washed-up actor who is known as for playing the character, Birdman, in a series of action/superhero movies. He wants to revive his career and make a name for himself by starring, writing, and directing in a play on Broadway. Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu really grabs in you in this movie by his directing style of shooting the film in one long-take. The story is interesting, and by the end, it has you thinking. The whose ensemble is great, but Keaton, Edward Norton :)love:) and Emma Stone are terrific.

Mystic River-I watched it when it first came out. Watched it again last night. Very good film IMO but it's gut wrenching.

The Mist-watched it in HD for the first time. Super cool!!!! (I've said it before and I'll say it again, Marsha Gay Harden should have at least been nominated for an Oscar Best Supporting Actress. BTW-I woulda chucked several cans of peas at her. :wow:)

I agree. Despite Penn's great performance I figure I won't watch it again. The book, which I read prior to the movie's appearance, combined with seeing the movie is enough.

I love The Mist as a scary as hell, scifi/horror movie.

I can only handle about 10 minutes of Charlie Day. He needs to get rid of that high-pitched grating voice he has.

Inarritu is one of my absolutely favorite directors! This is the only one of his that I haven't seen (and loved, even when they're not 'nice' movies), and I can't wait. He has the best sense of light of any director I've ever seen--it's like another character in each of his movies.

Sunshine--Is there a genre of movie in which director Danny Boyle isn't interested (and effective)? Not space horror (ish), that's for sure. This was a really absorbing movie about a team of astronauts and scientists trying to re-ignite the dying sun. I'll definitely watch it again. I can see why Chris Evans called it one of the three movies he's made that he's actually proud of making.

Last movie I watched was National Lampoon's Animal House - okay and not too bad, but not as funny as I expected it to be - perhaps funnier in a different generation. I liked the ending with Bluto and the blonde cheerleader type.

I really like that movie. I didn't laugh all that much (I usually don't in movies), but I found the story and characters immensely entertaining.
