Me too.

(sorry, danie! :D)
I noticed that subtle change in my quote there, Neil. :)
But if I were her, wouldn't that be better for you?
Odds are, she wouldn't be replying to the post, but if I were her, then at least you'd be getting a reply right now.
But wait, if I were her, I wouldn't be on this board, as I'd have to be taking care of Ryan Reynolds and myriad other Hollywood tasks, so then I wouldn't be replying to you anyway. I've never heard that she likes Stephen King, that is. If she did, then maybe she would be here, replying to my post and yours. It is a conundrum to say the least.

Sherlock: His Last Vow. I really liked it. I'd seen only one other of the PBS Sherlock series episodes, which are a modernized version of new Sherlock Holmes stories, and liked it. Last Vow held my interested fast, was written very well, and was really fun to watch.

I recall REALLY liking that 1981 John Derek directed TARZAN, THE APE MAN--when I was but a wee lad. That probably had something to do with a wet and scantily clad Bo Derek slinking throughout the jungle. I may have to finally revisit this sexy train wreck of a film.

I watched the movie too. Silly little piece of fluff that doesn't deserve a second view.

BUT.... I will say that the movie got the Tarzan part closer than most other Tarzan movies. In the book, he's the quite-muscled, but not TOO much, primeval man who's a sensitive killer who can't speak a word of English starting out. If I remember the movie right, they didn't do half bad with that much. Everything else, though, was crap.

First Blood - Rambo

The original Rambo is very different from the ultra violent sequels. This original is a much more human story than the sequels that portray Rambo as a violent comic book type character killing machine. If you've never seen it, you'll be surprised at how good a movie this is. It's playing on netflix now.

I really liked the first one and thought Stallone did a very good job. I saw the preview for the second one, recognized where it was going, and didn't watch any of the sequels. The first one was about cultural persecution and torment of absolutely the wrong guy. The others looked more like Terminator types.

He makes an awesome Genghis Cowboy, though, eh?
Have you ever seen Rich Little's take-off on him in this movie? Hilarious.

Genghis the irradiated cowboy. Rooster Khan of Cancer County.

I mean, you know they filmed that mess on former nuclear bomb sites, right? They even shipped the potentially radioactive sand to the soundstage for the in-studio shoots. Huge percentage of the cast and crew died of cancer.

Gotta tell yez, the flick looks great. What I saw has to be restored version, but still, it was a big gaudy CinemaScope spectacle. But EVERY time Duke opened his mouth it went south.

I think I got some cancer just WATCHING the thing.

Love & Mercy (2015) Paul Dano, John Cusack, Elizabeth Banks, Paul Giamatti

Fantastic biopic about Brian Wilson. I love the way the film makers told the story. The story is told using two eras of Brian's life, 1967 and 1988 and different actors are used for each era. The 1967 part of the story is about Brian at his creative peak and the period where his mental issues start causing problems. The 1988 part of the story is about Brian under the care of a manipulative doctor who is taking advantage of him and his escape from that situation.

The Transporter Refuelled - good fun, but the new bloke is no Jason Statham.
Bill - silly retelling of Shakespeare's moving to London to become a playwright: constant giggles.
Sicario - dour drama of woman cop drafted into multi-agency force vs Mexican drug cartels who has constant doubts about whether the correct protocols are being followed.

Watched 2 yesterday: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with the kids, then later on Chronos. The latter didn't live up to my expectations. It felt like I was watching a long Tales From the Crypt episode. Maybe if someone else played Ron Perlman's character. He's such a bad actor, I don't know how I watched SOA for so long.

Agreed - I like Guillermo Del Toro's films and I know this was his first but it just didn't scare or creep me out. I do like the Devils Backbone though, and obviously Pan's Labyrinth.
