We have been hearing way too much about law enforcement officials who messed up.

Let's give props and applause to all those men and women who put their lives on the line everyday AND go out of their way and make us all proud.

Police deploy to save autistic boy's birthday - CBS News

Synopsis:

For Glenn Buratti's birthday, his mother Ashlee Buratti said she invited his entire class over for a party. When none of the 16 kids showed up, her son was devastated.

The county sheriff's office near her house in St. Cloud, Florida, orchestrated their own gift: A flyover from the the sheriff's helicopter.

Deputies bought Glenn more presents, and, the next week, sheriff's cars, police dogs and fire trucks paid him a visit at the same time.

Police who go out of pocket to help people. It's kind of like teachers who go out of pocket to buy supplies. You get a little sick of the system, hear or see that, and your faith gets restored.

The cop who pulled me over when I passed him going 35 in a 25, listened to how tired I was coming back from a long assignment, and said, "Go to a motel and rest up." No ticket.

The cop who came to the house when we had our one and only "runaway" night and comforted us.

I have a relative who is a police officer on a reservation. He had to take many classes on Native American culture. Sensitivity training . Native Americans have very different spiritual needs in times of distress, for instance, the death of a loved one. The home and body have to be handled with respect to their culture. He said he had to learn a lot of new and different ways in dealing with the community and he takes it very seriously.
