You did absolutely fine Honey. I just think of it as all of us sitting around with a cup of tea or wine and having a fun conversation. WE aren't being graded. It is just for fun and friendship.

I liked the line, "He didn't understand completely, but he thought he felt the shadow of understanding..."
I had an odd thought... What if, SK was the character in all three. Meaning, He remembered a good time with his Grandfather, he was the kid, but was also the father (reading all the time and at the table), and then slid into the Grandfather's role a bit later on. Perhaps that could also be part of the time folding in on itself.

I thought it was interesting how the father was always reading, too.
I am going to have to read this story a couple of times. But I like it, it works on several levels.
I totally got this part of the story. I think we are all rushing so fast, so much to do. Makes it even worse! We all need to slow down and take some time for ourselves.
The father reading was what gave me the idea of him in each role. What a good day, happy memories.
The story wouldn't have been necessarily disturbing except for the sister's behavior...
So, so true. My commute used to be my only alone time. Then the spring gave and we needed to rethink life.

Are you talking about last Friday? I have not been around much and I am sorry. Got a bit sick and it threw my whole body out of whack :-(
I was just thinking how to word that part. It was very hard to read those parts. And there are hints of issues with the mother's drinking and the father's distance. Always a dark side to every SK penny.
It reminded me of another SK reference to time-"the old bald cheater" (?) Hearts in Atlantis maybe...it's something that didn't make sense, but made perfect sense to me and always stuck in my head.
