I just have to say that i am thankful for the nice area and house i have now because compared to the neighborhood i lived in Jamaica this is heaven lol. We live in a peaceful area and a are a short distance from a park too so thats good for my kids :) So i was just wondering what everyone else on here thinks of there neighborhood? do you like or think it is bad?

It's safe, but not particularly friendly if you're not of the dominant religious group here. It is getting better, though--two new neighbors actually spoke to my husband lately! And NOT to proselytize! lol We're really close to the mountains, though, so hiking/picnicking/biking etc are all very accessible. That's worth a lot :)

That's so sweet... :biggrin2:
I am always mixing up my spelling with U.S and Kiwi now too, sometimes I get really stuck on a word. (grey/gray especially.)
YES! Sometimes I'll be writing and have to think which is the 'right' spelling--you should see the notes I get back from my editor--every second one reminds me that the publisher uses 'standard American spelling', and I have to really look to see where I went wrong. :biggrin-new: (And I still prefer 'grey' to 'gray' anyway. Looks better to me.)

Awww, and thanks, you've just reminded me which is the 'right' spelling for it... again. (I probably need to be reminded of this almost daily, it just doesn't want to stick any more.)

I like my neighbors. I live on the last block that is still zoned as single family residential. The neighbors are friendly, and it's quiet for a downtown neighborhood, and I can walk to almost anything I need.
The house next door to me is rented to four college boys, but they never make any noise or trouble.....the landlord has told them she will evict them if I have to call her.

We live in a little cul-de-sac in Suburbia All-America. The little neighborhood was tight when we got here. Now, not so much, but we have our moments. And we freakin' love our house. More room than the two of us really need, but there's family, there's grandkids, there's the occasional friend stopping by. Yeah. We love it.

Oh, crap, this is about neighbors, not about our house.

They're fine. When we first got here, we were all mostly tight. Someone would be out in the cul-de-sac for some reason. Someone else would come out to say hi. Someone else would come up. Then someone would go inside and come back with a six-pack. It might stop a half hour later, or we might be laughing at 11:00 pm with beer and wine bottles rolling around on someone's deck.

The blizzard of '03 was a huge bonding experience. Huge.

But people have moved out and been replaced by others not so... well, not so cool. So wow we're not tight, but we're cordial. It's fine. And my neighbor who saved my life (it's in another thread) is still here, and we're still tight.

I'm thinking we need a neighborhood party. See if we can get some bonds re-formed.

Must people around here just stick to themselves. A few wave but really don't know our neighbors.it is pretty safe. We been here 10 years and only one time has there been a crime close enough to worry me. A cross the street and three houses down a man was shot sitting in his car in his driveway. But no one knows if it was meant for him.but basically it is safe. Everyone looks out for everyone.

Well, as Flake can attest, there are neighbors...and then there are neighbors.

The house that is technically behind the one I live in is the one where the Creepazoids I mean strange people live.
I went through the house late at night to check all the locks, and glanced up as I was locking the rear doors - and saw the Man of the House in back watching me from their kitchen. :icon_eek::ghostface::ghostface::icon_eek::eek::eek::icon_exclaim::icon_exclaim::icon_exclaim::icon_exclaim::icon_exclaim::icon_exclaim::icon_exclaim:
The neighbors on another side are geriatric and keep to themselves - not a lot of contact with them.
But..........there are new neighbors who own two bouviers....and walk them all the time. :) Lovely dogs.
