I remember party lines with phones, rotary dial phones and phones that had cords.
And phone numbers that started with letters and were only 7 characters long. Our phone number when I was a kid was SW8-0336. The SW stood for the exchange Swathmore.
for some, this is the "nostalgia" phone....

I kept my husband's big clunky one forever, and his pager, finally got rid of both a few years ago. Maybe shouldn't have, will be collectors items one day!

As a kid I loved playing with this game. I've always loved Rube Goldbergisms. Another example...

Mousetrap! What nightmare! I bought my youngest son 4 or 5 of them cause he kept losing parts/pieces and it never seemed to work right!
Because I embarrassedly spoiled my children before I knew better, I spend gobs of money on these and on Yu-Gi Oh and Pokémon cards. I think I would be retired by now if I had all that money back (and all the video games/systems)....
...interesting factoid: Bob Keeshan, played the first Clarabell the Clown, and then went on to become Captain Kangaroo!....
That was part of my enjoyment, getting it to work flawlessly.
