The man was a freakin legend. Probably the biggest influence on my own art, I've studied this master since I was a kid. Never heard of Jack Davis? If not, chances are you've seen his work--countless movie posters, Time Magazine and TV Guide covers, sports cards, record albums, and about a gazillion Mad magazines--he was one of the original Usual Gang of Idiots. But for me, of course, my favorite was his run on Tales From The Crypt. To wit:

Jack Davis passed away last week, at the ripe old age of 91, leaving behind a body of work that will never be matched.

Ya'll rest easy, son.

He led a good long productive life - we will meet him again, perhaps in another life - RIP
