I had no idea until I saw this thread in the list of new threads! So sad. We'll still have Patty and Cathy Lane to remember her by though. They will live on in TV history.

I don't know if there is a "good" way to die, but sepsis from a ruptured intestine is one of the worst. I feel so bad for her and her family.
I always admired Patty (and when I found out she was born with my name I somehow felt that made me special, lol).

...to constantly battle and gain the upper hand on her mental health problems, only to be done in by something as nasty as sepsis is an unjust twist of her fate....pretty lady and fun soul....may it be bright and carefree in her clearing.....
It is interesting that although more people live into their 70s and 80s today than they did hundreds of years ago we really haven't extended the human life span that much even with all the advances in medicine, nutrition, environmental control etc. John Adams lived to be in his 90s a couple hundred years ago but folks like David Bowie, Patty Duke and many others celebrities didn't reach 70 even with the best health care available in 2016.
RIP. She will be missed. She was heavily involved in the theater industry here in Spokane and in Idaho.
