Not surprised. He had major addiction issues. No official word on cause of death but I'm sure it will turn out to be drug related. He seemed to have relapsed lately based on recent interviews and performances.

He was one of rock's last great frontmen :(

So bummed. This was the sound of my youth with my hubby. This was our second show together (really our first, since we had seen this awful band "Bush" a couple days before for some reason. They were lip-synching, no joke!) We had seen STP and Scott's solo stuff throughout his career. So many shows. He was amazing when he was sober and we only saw him that way actually, so we were lucky. Never saw a bad show. I am sitting here crying over someone I never met, but loved his music so much. This wasn't a big surprise, but my hope was always he would be the one to get past his addiction. We lost another great one to drug abuse. My heartfelt condolences goes to his wife and children and family members.

I saw Stone Temple Pilots once. What a voice he had. Pretty small venue for them at the time. Indoor/outdoor

Mann Music Center.

They had a living room set up at one point. Just played on couches and chairs.
