Don't do this to anyone ever!!!

My mom texted me. "We're at the ER. Will call." It's been 2 hours and I am freaking out. Don't even know if it is her, my dad, gramma, etc!!! Aggh!
I hope he is okay! Yes! In my family, I am the one known as the person who will track their azz down no matter where they are. I have had family paged at stores (not just for fun mind you, there was always something life threatening happening and I needed information dammit!) This was before cell phones.

Now I will hound the holy hell out of every family member who has any information on said crisis until I get an answer.

Nobody puts baby in a corner.

This weekend has been one of reflection and remembering all my loved ones I don't have anymore.

And I remembered, my grandfather, who I so wish would've written a story of his life, he was friggin' interesting! But he didn't have a high school education and wasn't good with words and punctuation, so he wouldn't write it down. Anyway, side bar there -- my grandfather lost my grandmother very young, she was 45 and had cervical cancer. She left him with 5 kids. Thankfully, most were old enough to start marrying off.

But, every time he went to my grandmother's grave, he left coins on her headstone. Money to pay the ferryman. Now, apparently my grandmother was on an installment plan. Not sure her boat fare got completely paid before my grandfather was no longer physically able to put those coins on there for her. Hopefully Charon didn't throw her out midstream to dog paddle her way to shore among the doomed souls.

Just a random story.

(((DJ))) That is a great story!

I am so proud of my dad. Several years ago, before my grandfather died, Dad made a video of him telling his life stories. I have a DVD now. Best thing ever!

That is so great! And what a good idea for those who might not be able to write, or are just better talkers.

This grandfather ran away from home at 13 and returned home at 22. He was a jockey, he had a pilot's license and owned his own plane (back in those poor days!), He got 7 of his 10 fingers ripped off in a corn picker, at one time he had a lady friend who was a witch and had him into crystal balls. (his kids were beside themselves over that broad!!!!) So many stories. He had so many stories. Some never told I'm sure.

Gone.

Right! I wish we'd had time to do this with my mom's dad. Just keep repeating the ones you know. Oral history is what this country was built on!

On an unrelated topic (this is the Random thread), a lady was on Rachel Ray show today who rescues baby goats, especially ones with "special needs". Her name is Leanne and the farm is Goats of Anarchy if you want to Google her!;-D
