I used to think it was pretty until I had to start helping my mom shovel after her divorce! I prefer snow over frigid cold, though-any day!!
I shovel daily when I lived in michigan. lived in an area that was much isolated. Very few lived out there year round. I think only 4 of us. My kids loved it as lots of times the school bus would not attempt our road,so there absence was excused. So needless to say I do not miss the shoveling, just the beauty.

I waved at you Texans as I sat in the Houston airport. I was very surprised flying into houston how many trees there were. I know that's so stupid, but I just didn't realize there was so much foliage in Texas. I guess my antiquated thinking is prairies and deserts of old cowboy movies.

I was very surprised to see Palm trees in Texas!

From the reaches of the north,
a place of cold blue beauty,
comes to us the first winter storm.
Wind whipping, flakes flying,
the snow has fallen upon the earth,
keeping us close,
keeping us together,
wrapped up as everything sleeps
beneath a blanket of white.
Oh beautiful. I love the hushed silence of the snow. The occasional sound of that "fumpt" sound when tree branches get overburdened and drop their weight. Maryann you must miss it.
