We got a great big convo truckin across the USA. Yikes CB's. When was the last time you saw anyone with a CB?
We had these on the farm, in all the vehicles, and in the houses. I can't quite remember all the call signs, but my grandparents house was Base 1, grandpa's pickup Mobile 1, we were Base 2/mobile 2, my uncle, Base 3/mobile 3. It was not unusual to hear, WRXK99, (I think this is right!) Base 2 to Base 1...Base 1...can we come over Grandma? ;-D

Good memories.

I remember Legg's pantyhose came in these huge egg containers. My mother had a collection of those eggs and would break them out during Easter. The deal was if one got one those eggs, it came with money inside. Candy kind of paled in comparison with getting the Legg's eggs.

My mom saved them and used them in crafts.

Where we lived was hot so we would wear a skirt on our bikes, hard to pedal in a skirt so we would tuck them up into our undies, that way we could ride and not get our skirt caught in the spokes...does that make sense lol
Okay that makes sense. For a minute there I thought it was some odd teenage Thelma and Louise convertible cruising down the highway type thing. :)

In addition to “Keep On Truckin'”, anyone remember some of the other Robert Crumb "underground" creations...

Oh yes. Wasn't Fritz (the movie) banned in several cities?

When I was a little girl, I begged begged my mom to take me to see Fritz the Cat. advertisements were on TV for it, and I thought it was a Disney movie. No one ever told me why they wouldn't take me.

Zoom to present day. By now I knew that Fritz was a naughty movie, but still hadn't see it until I got Netflix! First disc I ordered from them was Fritz the Cat so I could see what was so bad.

Uh yeah. Mom was right in not taking me.

In your mirror.
Watching my kids ooh and aah over a sales flyer made me miss the big wish book catalogs that JC Penneys used to send out. I would spend hours looking at those.

Oh, my son LOVED the Toys R Us Christmas wish catalog. He was so serious, taking his time, hours and hours. Slowly he would circle ...maybe ten items. And eventually narrow his choices to two or three.

I miss that.

Peace.
