In your mirror.
Good evening.

You know when I have too much time on my hands? When Siggy gets bored, she starts thinking (never a good thing). (First thing, Sigs starts talking about herself in the third person. Ha!) So... I was thinking.

You have central air and central heating. You set the thermostat at...let's say ...73 degrees.

It's summer and it's 99 degrees. Outside. Inside your home, you are walking around in a t-shirt, shorts, and are bare foot. You drink iced tea, chilled water, and iced soft drinks. You eat a ton of salads. Chicken salad, tuna salad ...salads. You eat light. You go to bed with just a top bed sheet.

Now it's winter. It's 30 degrees. Outside. Inside your home, you are walking around in flannel pajamas, sweats (sweat pants, sweat shirt) socks and slippers. You drink hot tea, hot coffee, hot chocolate. You eat soups, stews, and chili. Hearty foods. You go to bed under a blanket or comforter.

Why?

You set your thermostat at 73 degrees.

Why do you behave so differently?

:smile2:

This is one of the many, many, MANY, things that I wonder about.

Y'all stay cool. (Or warm.)

Peace.

I live in colorado and we got tile floor. Even if it says 73 inside and it winter outside that floor is cold. In summer it ok...but in winter it still cold. I don't like socks anytime of year so I haft to drink coco. Drinking coco warms my feet up odd but true

I've wondered about this weirdness too, but from an outside standpoint from a northeastern state. Like how in the spring when it gets to be in the 50's and 60's, we break out the shorts and run around in short sleeved shirts. Then in the fall when the temps drop to the 50's and 60's, we break out the long pants and flannel shirts and jackets. Same temps, different feels.

I might be in the minority, but......
In summer, I keep the temperature set at 74. In winter, I keep it set at 67.
When I'm inside, I pretty much wear tank tops, and go barefoot year 'round.
Sweet iced tea is my beverage of choice in any season, and I eat more ice cream in the winter than I do in summer.
I've also been known to make chili in the 4th of July, and I take salads for lunch daily, no matter the season.

Because we know it's out there. *Shudders*

Seriously, though. I think it's because we're animals. For all of our advances, we still hail from nature. The survival instinct is still hard-wired into us, along with all its nuances. And living through the winter is part of that.
