I hope you get on somewhere soon. In the meantime, I invite you to come to my science classes as a guest speaker to talk about careers in archaeology. However, the only pay I can offer is a school cafeteria lunch.
School cafeteria lunch? I'm in. When you embark in any careeer in archaeology, or other sciences i expect, you must do so out of interest and not because there are secure or wellpaid jobs out there. There isn't for many. And then, of course, it is a chance to get invitations like i just got which is a plus.....

...my friend-you are an articulate, brilliant fellow with a great sense of humor...leave the closed door behind...your attitude is outstanding and the realist dedication to your craft is most admirable....all the very best when you stumble across the threshold of the next open door....

An uncle of mine was an archeologist, or so he claimed. He also experienced dry spells between jobs. It seems to be the nature of the business. But he loved to travel and at times taught at colleges all over the world. And he never seemed to be without some sort of work for very long.

(Of course I have a feeling he was actually a spy for the CIA, as it seemed he always ending up “working” in all the world’s hotspots.)
