....current "Country" music, is for the large part a hybrid of Country and Pop.....very few artists are doing anything resembling C & W....there ARE some acts out there that are keeping the sound alive, but aren't mainstream....

The real C&W I really like. It's not the only music I like but I really do like some of the really good and classic CW songs. I have such fond memories of showing horses listening to that stuff. Now there are artist whom I believe are talented writers and/or performers but it's just not CW to me.
Christ Stapleton really nailed the sound I like with Parachute though.

C'mon Eileen! Have you really given rap a chance?

I find solace in the words, the anger, the beat, the different-ness of it. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's an insult to music. That's like saying, "I don't like grape juice; it's an insult to beverages." You may not like it, but that's an opinion. What you don't like, and what I do like, doesn't have to be an insult to the art.

You know I love ya, right? :)

The only rap artist I actually recall enjoying was Nelly. Why, I have no idea.
The problem I have with rap (only me speaking) is the poor memories from my personal circumstances associated with it. Music can do that. Music can bring back a flood of memories, feelings, sounds, and even scents (do I sound insane yet?) that few things can. A particular song I still enjoy but rarely hear will bring back this amazingly weird flood of sights, sounds, feelings and all those other things I really thought I'd forgotten, memories decades old. It's painful in a way, but it's a "hurts so good" type of pain.
OK, I sound like a fruitcake. Slinking back into my corner now :D

danie , you're right, that was harsh. I haven't given it a chance, though, because all the samples I've ever heard blasting from car stereos are just so yelly and angry, and every other word is f***in' this or that, and I really detest how a lot of the lyrics degrade women. Just not for me.

But I know that's not ALL rap. I would probably like female rappers better.

Most Rap music makes my teeth hurt. Then again, so does some of the harder Metal music.
Having said that, I can name a handful of songs from both genres that I actually enjoy.
.....but I still think coconut is the devil's work ;;D

Do you live in the middle of nowhere too? We do and love it :) All I hear in the evening are insects singing, very relaxing. The only problem is we have a group of really nocturnal birds who like to start chattering and screaming at about midnight. Then I think of this:
:laugh::rofl::lol:
I'm literally laughing out loud - never saw that before :witless:

I lied. I actually recall liking some of Eminem's stuff, but not all of it. The stuff about being censored so he pushes back was kinda cool, but usually the beat and style of rap isn't my taste. I like metal but not death metal stuff and some of the Black Sabbath and Ozzy stuff is really pretty amazing!

I'll probably anger some fans, but the sound of Janis Joplin's voice drives me nuts. Just about nothing can get me to change the radio station quicker than hearing her ungodly caterwauling. I can't believe anyone would voluntarily listen to that.
....she's not everyone's cup of tea-Tracy hates JJ as well, but I really love the raw energy that comes through that whiskey and cigarette throat....
