Haha. Come to think of it, I can't name one Van Halen song I do like...
The only Van Halen songs I like are from the Sammy Hagar era...

Most rap and hiphop numbers irritate me. I'm old fashioned i know..... Don't judge me too hard.
Me too! It's just an assault to the eardrums and an insult to music in general.

There are so many songs that irritate me, but wouldn't you know it, I can't think of anything specific besides this one Christmas song: "Do They Know It's Christmas" by Band Aid. It's so pretentious and preachy, and I start yelling at the radio whenever it gets (over)played. Every year. OF COURSE there's not snow in Africa. It's AFRICA! And you've got to love the line, "Well, tonight, thank God it's them instead of you." WHAT?!? :facepalm_smiley:

You're taking that lyric out of context.

It just bugs me that the song is being sung by a bunch of filthy rich rock stars who are trying to make their Western audience feel guilty and sad for a region in a completely different cultural area of the world because they may not know it's Christmas (because they are probably not even Christian!) I know that it was about the Ethiopian famine, and that in itself warrants human empathy, but the way it was presented is, to me, laughable.

C'mon Eileen! Have you really given rap a chance?

I find solace in the words, the anger, the beat, the different-ness of it. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's an insult to music. That's like saying, "I don't like grape juice; it's an insult to beverages." You may not like it, but that's an opinion. What you don't like, and what I do like, doesn't have to be an insult to the art.

You know I love ya, right? :)
