TMZ says that the tape was recorded during a therapy session in 2012.
If this was disclosed in a LCP/MSW therapy session that counselor is mandated by law to report it. Then and there.

If he has done that. Go directly to jail. A long penalty.
The thing that nags at me is that the wife had this tape in her possession for 2 years, but held onto it until she could use it to wring a few more divorce dollars out of her ex. What does that make HER?

I seem to remember one interview with her about that. She apparently said she turned it over to the police in 2012 for their investigation, and denied leaking it to the press.
Epic. Throw in some fishnets and you've got a Tim Curry trifecta.
At this point, I question her credibility at least as much as his.
These are two quotes from an article I read online from a site called Wonderwall, which indicate that a tape does indeed exist.
"Over the course of my representation of Stephen in the divorce case, Faye has repeatedly threatened to give this audiotape to the media unless Stephen agreed to pay her millions of dollars more than that to which she was legally entitled," Stephen's divorce attorney Mark Vincent Caplan said in a statement to TMZ." and
"When asked whether he'd like to address the comments made on the tape, Stephen's lawyer said, "Though we would like to address the tape itself, the circumstances dictate that we must regrettably refrain from doing so at this time.""
That it exists, sure. Sad to say, but it looks like he is, indeed, a scumbag. But I mean her motivation. Sounds like she's a blackmail artist to me, rather than a woman who SHOULD be more concerned for any children that could possibly be put at risk than how much she can extort him out of with a tape that proves it.

"Stephen Collins believes estranged wife leaked tape to extort money from him". But Stephen Collins doesn't deny it exists, does he? Seems to me that neither of them have given any thought to his victims. It's all about the money at this point, and that I find disgusting.
I agree. On both of their parts.
I really didn't want this to be true about him. But it looks like I have to.
She says he needs psychiatric help, but what's HER excuse?
I know what you mean. I always liked him as an actor. But I look at him in a totally different way now. Frankly, they both disgust me!

Wow. I just listened to the audio.
I feel sleazy and dirty for several reasons. First, because of what's in it. Also because it feels like I'm listening to something I shouldn't be. That's a private recording made in confidence. There's no excusing what he did, but those comments were made by a man who had every reason to believe that they would be kept private. I'm not entirely sure it's legal for a psychiatrist to even release this tape if there's doctor-patient confidentiality. The guy's a scumbag pedophile, but there's nothing on that recording that indicates that anybody's in immediate danger.
It also sounded very much like she was leading him with the intention of using it later, to extort him. That's just as slimy as what he was saying.
I need to go watch Mary Poppins or something.

Faye says Stephen told her when she was pregnant with their now grown daughter that he was glad she was carrying a daughter because he didn't think he would be able to stop himself from molesting a son.
If this is true, she's just as bad as he is. And if it's not true and she's making it up to try to make him look bad, it still makes her look just as bad as she wants us to believe he is.
When the story first started to leak, it sounded like she had recently found out about his wayward behavior, and left him. Anyone can understand that.
But then it was revealed that she's known a couple of years and may be holding this over his head to get more of a settlement in their divorce. Um, okay, she seems to be a little less of a sympathetic character, but she's still the good guy compared to him.
But, now she sounds like she's been fully aware that her husband has been stalking children for years, and she's been fine with that because...? She liked the money and status? She didn't think it was her problem? What the poop?
