Happy TGIF!

Stranger Things on Netflix is available today.

A love letter to the supernatural classics of the 80's, Stranger Things is the story of a young boy who vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

I read it described as "If Stephen King wrote E.T."

One season, eight episodes.

I'm going to try to watch sometime this weekend.

Have a great weekend!

S1 E1

Small town USA circa 1980's. Four misfit middle school nerds. Will is frightened by some creature in the rode he makes brave attempts but he disappears.
The sheriff is not as uncaring or inept as it looks. Why does he say his daughter is away with her mother when the daughter is actually dead.

Quick thoughts

electricity (reminds me of the TV Whispers)
the government/the shop
you don't tattoo humans you are going to treat humanely 011 (eleven El for short is in a world of hurt)
the shop people don't think twice about killing innocent civilians
El has telekinesis (like Charlie in Firestarter and she gets a nose bleed like Andy, too)
also like Charlie, she will use her power to defend herself (you could ask the two shop guys who tried to capture her but it looks like they shot each other. In the head.)
I don't like Steve

BTW-when the electricity/power blew up the phone I thought, "new phone who dis" XD

S1 E2

The boys are pretty industrious and quick on their feet. Who does El call Papa and why is she put in solitary in the shop place? Baztards.

The deputies are dangerously dum dums.

I admire Barbara sticking by her dopey/love struck friend. Too bad Barbara paid with her life for her friends indiscretions. :glare:

electricity
the shop
monster/alien
telekinesis
town secrets

Devoured it. Loved it.

It really was like reading a Stephen King story a la It. One of the best, if not the best, performances by Winona Ryder. Really liked how all the main characters were treated intelligently - kids, teens, & adults.

BTW the kid who plays Mike - Finn Wolfhard is also playing Richie Tozier in the latest It movie being filmed right now.

Good Saturday afternoon!

I'm enjoying this.

S1 E3
Barb is alive in some kind of parallel universe - a dark, slimy, parallel universe with flesh eating monsters. Our world has human monsters.

Hawkins Lab lied to Hopper but he figured it out. That was a goofy lie, too.

THat's why they put El in the closet! She refused to mind kill the cat not even for Papa. Well, she got over the not mind killing thing. Those two orderlies. Ha!

Hello The Shop - CIA MK Ultra LSD mind control

Water has a big part in this, What?

S1 E4

Will is *dead* isn't communicating through the lights anymore and that other world door in no longer in the wall.

Nancy saw the monster with no face so now they believe Joyce. Yes!

English teacher was reading aloud from Heart of Darkness. =D

The state trooper guarding Will's body is reading Cujo! The back cover is Stephen King's photo looking into the camera!

Lonnie's back and I'm sure he's up to no good.

S1 E5
The Vale of the Shadow-upside down universe. I think I understood the science teachers explanation!

Lonnie want to sue the gravel pit company. That's why he came back.

I KNEW Nancy would be a natural shooting and it reminded me of Beverly.

Wait! There's a door in the base of a huge tree? The monsters are Keebler elves?

Have a most excellent Saturday.

Wilmington DE, strange little place.
Im watching a new show called Stranger Things on netFlix, its stars Winomie Ryder as a mom and its all set in 1983, the realism of the props in astonishing, its mind boggling. Its The close and hair, most of all, but also things like Cigarette machines that. Are outlawed today, jutk boxes, actual Dungeon and dragons booklets from the time9 and there very beat up and used like the real things would have been)

., cars like VW Rabbits and gremlins , El Camions ...The paneling on the walls, the gym socks, Hugh bulky ice coolers, huge Watches (including Swatches),ugly wall paper. Even the houses, entire neighborhoods that are 80sish
. The music is from the 80s and 70s, the Family feud show with the actual first guy(forget his name) its the fashion more then anything that blows my mind. Its utterly realistic ,
most times TV shows that do the 80s, go way "over the top".
Making every one look like Boy-George or A punk rocker, or Eddie Murphy in the red-leather suit. These show got it perfect ! ....!stranger-things-eleven.jpg Its Hideous !

Loving this show! I am up to episode 5. Just started watching it this week. As a child of the 80's I am too loving all the props and reminders of life during that era. Great show......and yeah....definitely has a Stephen King feel to it. You can tell the writers/creators were inspired by Mr. King.
