1. What is the oldest thing you own?
This super cool Last Rites sets from the Ogre's great grandmother.

It looks like a crucifix on the wall, but if you need it to be - it slides open and there's candles, Holy water, and instructions for the last rites.

2. What durable good did you acquire most recently? ("Durable good" meaning something you use, like a car, computer, or shirt, not something you consume, like groceries, alcohol, or toner cartridge.)
We just ordered new doors and windows for the entire house. The cost made me sick, but it had to be done.

3. How often do you pray? (If you don't pray, the answer is "zero.")
Everyday, but sometimes it's just "God help me", sometimes all I can get out it "Be with me Lord", sometimes I spend time in adoration praying for peace. Sometimes there's always a Psalm running through my head.

4. Rate from 0 to 10 what you look for in a massage, 0 being you doan get no steenkeen massage, 10 being a massage that calls for a pretty fair level of pain.
I love a good massage, but I don't want there to be any pain. I like more of a petting message, not a deep tissue massage.

5. If you were isolated without real human contact, would you get by okay or get crushed by loneliness?
I think I might be OK knowing that I'm not inflicting myself on others, but I'd miss them.

6. Would things run better if you were in charge? ("Things" can be anything you want where you're not in charge now.)
Oh God no. My self doubt and second guessing and blaming myself for everything that went wrong would crush my soul. I would last about 30 seconds in the position.

7. Would it bother you if your offspring took up with someone of a different race? (If you don't have offspring, pretend.)
No, not in the least

8. You've just won the big money prize. Your checking account just increased by millions. After the celebration, what's the first thing of real value that you spend money on?
Make sure my family is taken care of, and then find a way to help those in need - a homeless shelter for families, a place where street kids can go to be safe.

9. Do you tend more to want to be completely comfortable or do you think that a little suffering is good for the soul?
I'd like some comfort, but for now I'm in a season of suffering. I'm looking for a little comfort.

10. Would you like to travel in space?
I'd be too terrified. I can barely get on an airplane

Hey! So that's what that thing in my upstairs closet is!

It looks exactly like this:

As a matter of fact it is identical to the picture above. I better go check that closet to make sure it is still in there, as this one appears to be for sale on EBay :chicken::nrvs:

My Mom and Dad used to have it - I always thought it was a relic of some kind from the Catholic church.

(My Dad worked for a place called the "St. Vincent de Paul Society" so God knows where he picked it up).

8. You've just won the big money prize. Your checking account just increased by millions. After the celebration, what's the first thing of real value that you spend money on? A dome home with critter safe buildings attached.

Way back when, I desperately wanted a dome home. It turns out they have their own set of issues, and I stopped wanting it so much. But I still like the idea of. It just seems like a Fuller design.

1. What is the oldest thing you own? My grandfather's Vietnam military service medals. Two Purple Hearts and the Silver Star.

Awesome. Silver Stars are not easy to come by and stay alive. The probabilities suggest that one of the Purple Hearts and the Star came from the same episode.

8. You've just won the big money prize. Your checking account just increased by millions. After the celebration, what's the first thing of real value that you spend money on? A 500 acre tract of land in western Wyoming. After that comes my ranch house.

Be sure to secure the water rights!

We have one of those that belonged to my maternal grandmother, proud Irish Catholic.

This made me remember the line from Patton. Journalist: "Do you pray?" Patton: "Every g*****n day."

My massage therapist refers to that as a "fluff and buff." Me, I couldn't take it.

Well, aren't you the absolute perfect person for that question. :)

I like your tastings. I'd expect a cask strength Laga to have strong hints of Bactine, which is fine - I love cask strength scotches. But I'm already suspicious of the Springbank. The Bunnahabhain sounds sublime.

1. What is the oldest thing you own? I own a lot of old things. After my mom died, I got many objects that went way back in the family tree, so not sure which is the oldest. A couple interesting things I own are camel saddles from Morocco. My grandmother bought them in the 1950s and they were old then, so not really sure how old they are.

2. What durable good did you acquire most recently? ("Durable good" meaning something you use, like a car, computer, or shirt, not something you consume, like groceries, alcohol, or toner cartridge.) Paint canvases. But getting ready to buy a car.

3. How often do you pray? (If you don't pray, the answer is "zero.") I pray all the time. Not the get-down-on-your-knees praying, but just spiritual thoughts. For me, my family, friends, total strangers.

4. Rate from 0 to 10 what you look for in a massage, 0 being you doan get no steenkeen massage, 10 being a massage that calls for a pretty fair level of pain. Hmmm, I don't like pain, I go get therapeutic massages to GET RID OF PAIN.

5. If you were isolated without real human contact, would you get by okay or get crushed by loneliness? I would probably be okay, but I would have moments.

6. Would things run better if you were in charge? ("Things" can be anything you want where you're not in charge now.) No, I wouldn't want to be in charge. But things would run better if I was on the team. I am a hard worker, loyal, and I look to see what needs done. I don't wait to be told. I take the incentive.

7. Would it bother you if your offspring took up with someone of a different race? (If you don't have offspring, pretend.) I would not care at all as long as that person loved them, respected them, and had the same goals and a good work ethic. Loyal, dependable, honest, loving, caring, generous, smart, funny -- and on and on and on. This is what I want for my children. I don't care the package.

8. You've just won the big money prize. Your checking account just increased by millions. After the celebration, what's the first thing of real value that you spend money on? My friends and family. First thing. I would make the lives of the people I care about better first.

9. Do you tend more to want to be completely comfortable or do you think that a little suffering is good for the soul? Completely comfortable. I think the soul does learn so many things from suffering, and it changes us as people and makes us better. But at my age, I get it. I don't need any more lessons.

10. Would you like to travel in space? No

1. What is the oldest thing you own?
An antique chair that someone here (Spideyman , maybe?) helped me identify as being circa 1870.

2. What durable good did you acquire most recently? ("Durable good" meaning something you use, like a car, computer, or shirt, not something you consume, like groceries, alcohol, or toner cartridge.)
I've had the flu for the last week or so, so I haven't left the house lately. Likely the last thing was a book, though. OH WAIT! I received a Nerd ABC's shirt in the mail on Wed! That's it!

3. How often do you pray? (If you don't pray, the answer is "zero.")
Formal prayers-last Sunday. Ongoing dialogue with The Why is normal, though.

4. Rate from 0 to 10 what you look for in a massage, 0 being you doan get no steenkeen massage, 10 being a massage that calls for a pretty fair level of pain.
Never had a professional massage, so 0 there

5. If you were isolated without real human contact, would you get by okay or get crushed by loneliness?
Get by okay

6. Would things run better if you were in charge? ("Things" can be anything you want where you're not in charge now.)
Maybe?

7. Would it bother you if your offspring took up with someone of a different race? (If you don't have offspring, pretend.)
Nope. Wouldn't bother me at all.

8. You've just won the big money prize. Your checking account just increased by millions. After the celebration, what's the first thing of real value that you spend money on?
Pay off my house (a drop in millions of dollars, I know, but it would be the first thing)

9. Do you tend more to want to be completely comfortable or do you think that a little suffering is good for the soul?
I'm a comfort gal

10. Would you like to travel in space?
Why not

My family is from WY, NW part, and I was born there. Husband was born and raised there (we met here, though), and just this morning said he was homesick. I see a road trip in the near future :) There's no place on earth like it.

Yes ma'am. You are right about that. Back in 2003 we spent 2 weeks on vacation in Wyoming, went back the next year also. I'm absolutely drawn to that country. We rented a lodge, can't remember the exact name of the town, but the lodge had a bay window and the view out of the bay window was an almost surreal looking view of the western Rockies. You could actually SEE the wind swirling the snow around the tops of a couple of peaks. I would just sit and stare for hours in the evening. It was the most wonderful place I've ever been.

Hey now - then you're all set if you ever have to perform last rites or Holy water is always handy if a vampire shows up. That's gorgeous, btw.

It didn't come with the accessories (plus I am pretty sure it used to have these little candle holder thingies on the sides, but they are now missing.

(Holy water!) - you are such a card :D:love::laugh:

I've always got a vial of Holy water in the house - you never know, girl. You just never know what kind of demon you might have to battle. Holy salt in the house as well - to cook with, to sprinkle, I even put it in the kid's humidifiers when they're sick. I'm a crazy Catholic.

Sounds like my aunt & uncle's place. They back up to a river, not far from a lake. Sitting on their sofa, you can look out the window and watch bald eagles nest and hunt. They've had black bear visitors on their back porch more than once--lol--and deer and elk wander through regularly. It's pretty much heaven. The Wind Rivers are some of my favorite places ever. My dad wanted his ashes scattered in Wind River Canyon, and my mom wants to be there too, when her time comes. If you ever get the chance, hit Louis Lake (Christina and Fiddler are nice, too--you really can't miss anywhere near Lander). Quiet, good fishing, and for my money one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Now I'M homesick :p
