I looked this up, because in my part of Wyoming, beer and liquor are not sold in grocery or convenience stores, and I guess I ass-u-med it was that way throughout the state. The law does say it is allowed to be sold in grocery stores, though. So I wonder why this area is different?

Our Albertson's grocery store does have a liquor store but it has separate entrances from the grocery side. And where we usually buy is also attached to a small, mom and pop type grocery store, but again, has separate entrances.

Probably has something to do with there being a bar practically on every corner up here. ;-D

Y'know, I haven't had much occasion to buy alcohol in Wyoming, but I was thinking I got it done. Most of my Wyoming trips are along the I-80 corridor, and my trips to your neck of the woods have been, drive in, get it done, drive out. So maybe it was Cheyenne or Rawlins? I hope I'm not getting it mixed up from Nebraska trips. It just struck me as I was on the road it being noticeable to see packaged liquor in a grocery store.

Our State Store lists Macallan Single Malt Scotch 12 Year Old for $31.99 when I check out their online prices. I'm betting since it's government run, it's a price from about 20 years ago and the overpaid employees haven't gotten around to updating yet. And if I stop by I will guarantee they don't have any at that price. Especially because they also list Macallan Single Malt Scotch 10 Year Old at $52.99.

I harken back to when Lagavulin 16 was going for about $66 or something. Now it's about $110 (but I wait till it's on sale for $89 to even consider it). A friend of mine who loves the Laga too bemoans with me that we should've bought a case of it way back when and just sat on it.

There's a ballot issue pending to allow retail liquor sales in grocery stores.

I'm against it. Obviously, the big-chain retail stores are looking to expand the offerings and bottom line. I don't mind alcohol having its separate facility. And I think that Kroger (known as King Soopers/City Market in Colorado and maybe Wyoming), Safeway, Albertsons, et al, can do just fine on their More importantly, I don't think it's fair to build up an entire retail industry - in this case, liquor - and then upend the playing field to the participants' detriment.

I didn't mean to seem like I was calling you out on anything, apologies if that is how I came across.

I just thought it was interesting that the law does allow it, statewide, but you don't see it here. You are most likely correct!

Beer and alcohol sales are allowed in grocery and convenience stores in Nebraska. One small convenience store in my home town has more beer and spirits stocked than anything else. Don't go there if all you want is a candy bar! ;)

CAT and Sunny have been awfully quiet....melting is underway?

Yes?

Perhaps they’re both devastated by recent news. Peyton Manning will probably be a LA Ram next year, and it looks like Johnny Manziel won’t be a Cowboy. :)

I was busy with RJ. He was in a kind of terrible two state of mind. ;-D

You do realize that by joining my Superbowl Party thread, that you're attending a party by default, don't you?
That's right, used trickery to lure you in........and I'd do it again, too! ;;D :cheerful:

....and I've made swiftdog2.0 an honorary Panther fan.....I'm cool like that.

Tomorrow, we're going to make an appearance at a "Superb Owl Party," hosted by a lady in my writing group. We'll be there for about an hour before coming home.

I asked Eldest when he was coming over tomorrow. He said five minutes after game time. This has been the routine all season. I'll make quesadillas for snacks. I'll have some beer. He will leech food and beverage from us. And Di'O will be rooting for the Panthers.

Just another Sunday. Just another game.

So, you're saying that you're essentially attending two parties.......mine, and the one with the writing group.....I might not have to stick pins in your doll, after all. :D

My boyfriend bought a new larger TV a few weeks ago. The Tarheels have lost two basketball games in a row since he put it up. I've told him that he can't turn on that TV at all today.......it obviously has bad mojo. For some reason, he refused to take it down.....I think he may have jinxed the game.

Go Panthers.

*sticking pins in the DiO doll....*

Well, there's enough angst and anxiousness already, and it annoys me that I and family and friends should get this worked up over a sports event, and I'm going to stop talking there about my feelings about such things and the resources we pour into them. I'll just enjoy things today for what they are.

I hope it's a good game. A couple years ago, it wasn't. I hope no one gets injured, at least badly enough for it to last past this game. I hope there are breathtaking plays, especially if they go our way. I hope the commercials are good. I hope the halftime show goes smoothly. I hope that whatever the result, it doesn't detract from the goodwill and friendliness of people on this board - or anywhere else, for that matter.

I'm going to shut things down now, do some writing, cook breakfast for Grandma when she gets up, hit the elliptical for a bit, go to the Superb Owl gathering for an hour, then get back here in time to turn on the tube, welcome our son as he comes over, and enjoy Just Another Game. Have a grand day, y'all.

I take everything here to be all in good fun. For me, the outcome of the game won't change things one bit. I'm fully prepared for the full on ribbing that I'll receive if my team should fall...... I hope the commercials are better than they were last year..... I don't have much hope for the halftime show, because I'm not crazy about any of the performers this go 'round.....I'll use halftime to make a fresh pitcher of margaritas, and make prank calls to some folks (it's a Superbowl tradition for me).

Enjoy your day, Grandpa!
