His short stories are some of his absolute best writing. I totally agree with you. I've said this a bazillion times, but when someone writes a short story, they have to tell that tale quick and the writing has to be wicked tight. Stephen does that like no one else.great concept for a short story..I think SK's short stories are way overlooked,by the public in general and definitely the critics..in fact,I think his short stories are just as well written,if not more so,than his novels..just my opinion..

I remember reading it and thinking of the Tom Hanks movie, Cast Away...I think that movie would have been received quite a bit differently if it had gone the way of Survivor Type...
Heck yeah. Some ribs would be great!I must re-read, for sure. Gruesome and great. Anyone hungry?
This story is probably one of the scariests stories i every read, It is up there with 'The Cat from Hell' every time i read it, i shiver and get goosebumps. well done Steve you did your job
Can't say that I recall this one booklover - but if you say that Steve did a great job, then I believe you! (I will have to go see if I own this collection)
Hi Nessy
Survivor type is in Skelton Crew. 'the Cat from hell' was published in 1977 and apparently isa extra story in Duma Key and an story in Just after Sunset. Do not have a meal before you read this.
