Did you hear that? No? Me, neither. It is my first day all by my lonesome here at home in 3 months!
Too bad I have a gazillion loads of laundry to do, and more rearranging/straightening stuff downstairs from the mess we made on Sunday.
I celebrated a little already, by buying one of our state lotto tickets. It is up to $675,000!! Whoo boy what could I do with that?!?

I did, indeed, go outside and get my hands dirty. I didn't just water the plants, I tended to them. Every time we go to Tall Guy's gramma's house, she rips up half her yard to send home with us under the misguided notion that I can keep green things alive. I've explained to her that plants come to my house to die. But she psh-aws me and packs whole grocery bags full of clippings and plants she rips right out of the ground. I bring 'em home and dutifully try my best. And this time, some of them seem to be thriving.
The plants in the closest five pots all got stuck in one pot just to try to keep 'em alive until I could get some better dirt. They survived and became pot-bound, so I untangled their roots and gave 'em each a pot. Here's hoping they take hold.
This tree... thing got stuck in with the big elephant ears in the ground at first, but the latter quickly overwhelmed that spot, and the red ants got at this guy, along with Grampa. So both got potted.
Grampa (first planted by Tall Guy's great grandfather) isn't thriving, but he's hanging in there.
I might have to repot him, again. I didn't put any rocks in the bottom for root drainage. I did remember to put them in with everything I planted today.
I have no idea what these purple things are, but they seem to be doing okay, putting down roots and displaying new growth. So I repotted them, too.
And I planted some herbs. We'll see if they come up or not. There's Oregano, Thyme and Rosemary. And in the farthest little pots, gourds.
I don't if anything will happen, but time will tell. I hope so.
I've had this fellow for a couple of years. After putting out one shoot last year, it died. I left it there.
Then, this spring, it started sprouting again. I guess it's one of those that comes back every year.
It had a bunch of big long leaves and looked great for months, but now it seems to be dying off again. I'll leave it alone and see if it comes back again.
These little elephant ears were mere sprouts when we got 'em so they got stuck in the same pot as those first few, just to try to get them to live until I could bout some good potting soil.
If they thrive after being repotted this time, they'll get this big.
These are more mature plants Gramma ripped up and sent home with us. They were about half this size where we brought 'em home.
They really TOOK.
A little sunshine, feline therapy (I step out on the porch and it's a Hitchcock movie with cats), plant therapy and a big cup of coffee with a packet of hot cocoa stirred in did seem to have done the trick.

No, I really need to get some deep cleaning done. My mom is coming for a visit in a couple weeks. So there are a few big things I have to do before then, stuff I keep putting off because of one reason or another. That is part of why I am irritated at my mess downstairs again, because I had that done. Until Sunday. Sigh.
It is probably wrong to revel in the quietness so much. But I am.This first week of school is kicking everyone's behinds, but I think Ali the worst. She threw a tantrum last night over grating cheese for supper, even though she usually likes to do that and it was her turn. So the quiet is bliss. I do love them all to pieces. I love the occasional quiet day, too though.
I haven't forgotten about this, but I haven't tried the new massage therapist out yet. The guy keeps coming up with reasons not to start work. He was supposed to start on the 18th, but his fiance broke up with him, and apparently, he's had trouble functioning with life.
He was supposed to come to work on Saturday, but he told our salon manager that he thinks he'll just go to Nashville and write songs for a while, because he feels that will be therapeutic for him.....
I've been rolling my eyes up in my head a lot lately.....

Thankfully, my brain hasn't turned to mush yet..... It might by Saturday night, though...... Two more sleeps, and then the concert!
The crazy juice must be in the water, though. We recently hired a guy with a barber license. He was supposed to start Tuesday. On Monday, our salon owner gets a text from him stating that he has to stay in Winston Salem for 8 to 12 months, and he really can't talk about it.
I'm dying to google his address and see if it shows up as the same as the prison.....
