We even have the electricity and running water these days!
I like to go to the DMV to get my stuff done. I like to make those grouchy old bats EARN their money!
sample of FL plates:Ha! Can't imagine why that would be frowned upon!
That is interesting that you go to the town clerk.
Been meaning to look it up, but when we were driving to/from Montana, we saw 20 different plate designs. We wondered why and how?? It was so weird, there were so many different designs.
We just have the regular design that most people get plus University plates. They are the gold/brown like the Cowboy colors. Those are a bit more expensive.
Wow! So does any design other than the regular one cost more?sample of FL plates:
There are many more.

I guess it's not really that weird, because each number is unique. But it was the first time (in Montana) I had seen so many different ones! Growing up in Nebraska, cars had the "design" one, and pickups were plain white, with blue numbers.
Wyoming had plain ones for trucks too, until just a few years ago, they went to the same design as cars. With a big T in the number, to designate a truck.
Interesting stuff!
This is the design through the end of 2017...(or until you renew, whichever happens first)
And this is our new design...
And the University plates...
These are also new, they were brown with gold numbers until this year.
Ignorance combined with smug prissiness just tweaks my nanners.
This week I had my third child to be criticized by a teacher for reading a book by Mr. King (only my younger daughter hasn't had that experience). LilMan's LA class had just watched a YT vid with Mr. King talking about writing, and son mentioned that he is almost finished with a book by Mr. King (Eyes of the Dragon--his second book by Mr. King). The teacher replied with a sniff that she didn't read such things because they are "full of bad language and gratuitous graphic sex." The Kid is now getting the cold shoulder from some other kids in the class.
Sigh.
She obviously hasn't read anything by Mr. King (out of over 60 books, I can only think of three graphic sex scenes, and two are intrinsic to the story. I didn't like The Regulators at all and can only remember that it struck me for graphic sex, but I can't remember exactly what it was or if it seemed justified by the story). Ignorance combined with smug prissiness just tweaks my nanners. Language is character driven, of course, and Mr. King has written some foul mouths. However, not as many as you might expect, and it is always part of character inner monologue or dialogue, not the narrative. And he does not write for small children (or small minds--lol). Aaargh!
At least she didn't take his book--I've had that experience twice before and had to immediately have a come to Jesus meeting with teachers. That will happen at parent/teacher conference at the end of next week with this one.

This teacher should read Eyes of the Dragon - it's an excellent book and I bet she would be pleasantly surprised. This week I had my third child to be criticized by a teacher for reading a book by Mr. King (only my younger daughter hasn't had that experience).
