I finally bit the bullet and joined a professional writer's organization (more for contacts than anything else). My first meeting is tomorrow, and I'm stressed. I'm terribly shy until I get to know people. What if the other kids don't like me, mom? Or worse, what if I don't like them--my face shows EVERYTHING. :near_tears::sweat_more: I'm all verklempt. If you don't see me again, I died of embarrassment/fear/worry.
You're going to be fine!
(Just remember how much you are loved and appreciated... and that you have much to contribute, we are always learning from you... and this experience is bound to enrich your well of words, one way or another. )

How exciting though!! You're going to do great! You'll have to report back and tell us how awesome you actually were.

Friends are so nice....! Just home from an evening out. A great evening out. I got presents, Riina bought flowers, though she knows i'm hopeless in keeping them alive but they looked lovely and the thjoughtfulness, Daniel got me 12 bottles of different brands of beer and a bottle of bubbly wine, Then i got three small bottles of Glenlivet, a very good scottish whisky, of different vintages in a special package. I also got a bottle of red wine and present card of about 90 USD in a big bookstore. They know i'm a big bookman but thought it would be better if i chosed myself. Then they refused to let me pay my share of the meal so they simply split the bill in seven parts and thereby divided my share between them. Very sweet of them. I got a cute little card to go with it. It said "50 is the new 30!". The food was good. The only problem i had was to carry all the gifts home.... But i managed or i wouldn't write this. And to think that i out there have even more friends is even nicer. Good day.

Look at it this way: if you don't like the vibes there you can just walk away and never see those folks again. Their loss, babe!

I lived! Though I did have a massive headache when I was on the way home, whether from my new glasses or from having to be social for hours (small talk kills me), I'm not sure--lol. And it was LOUD! I'd forgotten how loud a room full of women all talking at once can be! I heard some interesting editing ideas from a couple of writers, and I finally understood something my original editor was banging on about with my first book. I apparently don't do one particular 'romance book' thing--in fact, because I don't do it, the speaker today wouldn't classify what I write as romance (lol). Anyway, after two ibuprofen, a nap, and some homemade pizza, I feel much better. Not sure how useful the meetings will be (some of the stuff felt like it was aimed at 'learning' writers, though it's supposed to be for professional, trying-to-make-money-at-this, writers), but I'll maybe go to another meeting before I make a decision.

Thanks for all the good vibes--I felt them today :)
