Magda Olivero has died at the age of 104, after enjoying a full, rich, talented life.

I don't watch opera. I don't like it. I don't get it. But I do know virtuosity when I see it or, in this case, hear it, and she had it in spades.

This isn't that long. If you have time, take a listen and see if you don't agree.


She was also, by accounts, a gracious and gentle soul.

It's a notable thing when a life that has enriched the world passes.
