I know things didn't end well
for Rick's horse in season one, but I still have to wonder if/why they couldn't round up some more horses to ride? At least while they're out in the country, not a big city like Rick rode his ill-fated steed into in season 1.
Likely because GA isn't wild horse country and domestic horses are used to people, therefore would be Z meat early on. They mentioned in season 3 that Michonne's horse was the only one they'd found (like the single pig they rounded up--that sounds less likely to me. Aren't there wild boar hunts in GA? Or is that another southern state?). Most horses would have been eaten long before now, I'd think, by either Zs or humans.

Good points, especially about what's for dinner. I hadn't considered that factor.

About those horses... it's a good point that walkers would have eaten any that they can get hold of. But if we're talking about domesticated horses, they're probably inside a fenced pasture. Walkers aren't famous for their climbing skills. Unless somebody died inside the pasture, I don't think the wandering walkers could get through, over or under a fence to get at 'em.
I'm excluding animals inside barns. Those would have starved long since.

I think just the weight of the bodies would knock the fences down like it did at the prison. Even pasture-like fences would bet vulnerable, I think: I was at an Anthrax concert years ago that had that type of barred fencing around the stage, but it was steel not wood. My brother and I were right up front when the weight of bodies behind us broke the fence (and mangled two security guards' legs). We just lay down, covered our heads, and let the crazies run right over us. The situation would likely be the same with zombies.

I think Mr. L.L. Bean is going to have a hard time convincing Rick that he is good guy. Gareth looked like a good guy too...HE turned out to be Cannibal. Maybe Morgan sent him and that is how he knows Rick's name.
My thoughts on the new person.

I thought about that, and you're absolutely right. I just wonder if there are that many walkers wherever horses live. We've seen herds big enough to wipe out a building, but we've also seen solo walkers and very small groups. I think it's possible that they could find some.
Then again, I have horses on the brain. I just wanna see some :)

I'd like to see someone riding a damn bike. Not Daryl's stupid noisy chopper, but an actual bicycle. It would make SO much sense...

Oh sorry--DC. Noah's home was in VA, so they're already in that state. They decided to shoot for DC. Last ep Maggie asked Sasha, "How long have we got," and Sasha answered, "About 60 miles." :)
Thanks, I thought it was DC but I was thrown by earlier discussions of horses in Georgia. So they are about forty miles outside of Richmond; I am very familiar with that area which further confused me. Quite anxious if they 'get to DC' how they will portray the area.
