The New Math
If you want to do things the convoluted and hard way, that is up to you. For the rest of us, 1 + 1 = 2 is simple and to the point.
Power Lights that are On when they mean Off
Whose idea was this? On newer electrical and electronic equipment the red “Power” light is on when the unit is plugged in and is really in “Standby” mode. When the unit is actually turned on, the red “Power” light then goes out. Huh?
Software Programs and/or Operating Systems that do not work
Usually these are replaced, instead of being upgraded, for no good reason, other than marketing, once they are mature and have most of the bugs worked out of them.
Think Windows 8, as opposed to Windows XP.
Electrical wall outlets that are installed upside down
For decades, the standard installation configuration of these 120 volt outlets was to have the ground prong hole facing down (so it appeared like a face). This was in keeping with the installation configuration of the older (non-grounded) receptacles, in that the neutral (slightly longer slot) was always to the left. I have seen a lot of these installed upside down, which makes some standard grounded cords hang down wrong. A small thing, I know, but why the sudden upside down change? Just to be different?
Appliance or electric tool power plugs that are designed incorrectly
Related to the idea of upside down receptacles, some cords on power tools have a locking tab where the center screw of a receptacle is normally located. But, this tab looks like a grounding prong location and should have been located on the lower part of the plug. Really nit-picky, I understand, but with all the customer focus groups that are supposed to go into designing things, why didn’t some nit-picker like me speak up about this, which makes it tricky to plug into a standard socket?
Customer Service people who read from a script
These people do not seem to comprehend anything that you are saying. After a lengthy and detailed explanation of your problem or complaint, they will say some innocuous thing like, “I am sorry you are experiencing this problem. How can I help you?” Well, you can start by listening to me, moron!
People who are going nowhere in life, and do not want you to go anywhere, either
These are the kinds of drivers who will poke along at under the speed limit, but will speed up and not let you pass them. Then, they will slow back down and hold you back. These people need to seriously get a life. A variation is the blocker team, who will take up both or all three lanes and not let you pass. They must be jealous that you have a purpose in life, whereas their life has no purpose. What other explanation could there be? It is not just on the road, either.
People who do not understand the concept of lines and queues
How hard is it to understand that the first person to arrive in line should be waited on first? It is not survival of the fittest. This is civilization, not the law of the jungle, with the spoils going to the most aggressive.
Political Correctness
Right is right, and wrong is wrong, no matter whose feelings might get hurt. Man or Woman up, and move on.
