Dozens??!?? I thought moles weren't very social creatures.
Oh well, if they come, I'm ready....I still have plenty of traps ;;D
they're the only rodent I will use chemicals on (mole bait) because there are so many of them. But I get them outside the house and will lay plywood over the bait so no other critter gets to it. The moles will tunnel to get the bait. Keep setting the traps till you're sure you're mole free. Who knows you might get Mr Jingles as a bonus. ;)

Hi Ms. Sunny!

Sorry to hear about your mouse trouble.

(I haven't logged in for awhile. Sorry I'm late.)

I had a wood(s) rat problem awhile ago. (A new house development was underway and they cleared out a LARGE area of woods. Which, of course, had all the wood rats running every which-a way...right into the nearby houses. Mine included. Ha!)

I tried those big, heavy-duty snap traps. They would get triggered but not get...*snapped*..? I called my brother and he suggested the large glue traps. Guaranteed me they would work. Yay! Yeah, not so much.

I set out a few of the biggest glue traps available. And waited. Lo and behold, a short while after we had bedded down for the night...we (my son and I ) heard a ruckus. And squealing!!! ((Ye, gads!!)

We got up and found a wood rat in the glue trap and he was mighty pizzed off. It was awful!!! It was trapped but alive and fighting. I'll spare you the gruesome details...and they were gruesome.

(This ginormous rat was glued but alive and fighting. I'm goofy. I didn't think it through and my beloved baby brother had not mentioned what would happen once the rat was glued. I guess I just thought once it was glue trapped it would simply fall over and die. NOT!)

Suffice to say, I donned a long sleeved shirt, welders gloves, goggles, got a pair of pliers and some heavy duty trash bags and got the rat into the trash-bags and into the garbage bin outside. As God as my witness, I heard that rat squealing and thumping in the garbage bin all night long.

If you are going with the glue traps...consider what you are going to do once you get that thing trapped.

Arrrghhh!!!

Peace.

We had wild hogs on our property and they were tearing up the grass/crop. One of my hubby's buddies put out a cage trap to trap the hogs for the kill, which I guess is sorta kinda humane, and they ate the hogs which I was ok with... not much different than when I hunt at the grocery store. But, hubby got tired of me asking him twice a day if his buddy had checked the cage so the hogs wouldn't suffer. He decided life with me would be much easier if he ran field fencing along the barbwire fence to keep the hogs out :)

 OMG that's horrible.... oh no way, no glue traps for me. (I haven't heard of these before) I use the humane traps and then take them for a drive. (Plus I have a very good mouser... nobody messes with The Jake.)

Hmmmm... So it's okay when the cat does the killin' for you eh? I bet it's "Get him, get him Jake!" Not "Oh poor Mr Jingles." LOL :)

I just sorta figured if one got caught in a glue trap, I'd just whack it in the head with a shovel so it wouldn't have to suffer

It's your fault! I knew there was someone hoping that the mouse would live.....
What if I catch the plague or something from that varmit? :p
Have you heard of something called hantavirus?

ooops - finally got to the end of this very long thread - wow!
I am glad you finally got that mole - I have never had a mole in my house, just a mouse!

Yes, I've heard about hantavirus, and the plague and a whole bunch of other horrible diseases carried by rodents.
That's why I have no problem killing them when they come into my home.....it's also why my floors and cabinets have been freshly bleached
I tried to post a picture of my cat Bailey with a mouse (still alive) but it came up as too big.
