Think hole was door/portal because Sam started to fall then vanished with sucking/tearing sound not gradually smaller. Obelisk.. dt tower or radio transmission tower from book maybe.??
Suffocate idea was hard to swallow. Given forrestation in dome plants dying from lack of CO2 would be more plausible. [\SPOILER]

I recently watched a movie (can't remember its name) in which a meteor stuck earth in the States and traveled completely through the earth and came out in Australia so my first thought was that Sam would land in Australia lol. My second thought was that the abyss was a vortex to the alien world. Do you think Barbie will find a long rope and explore?

Did they name the meteor Uluru?

yeah, I thought this week's disaster was pretty weak too. Is the dome even big enough to have its own weather and sand storms? The meteor wasn't named Uluru :) I had to google Uluru lol

I could live with the disaster of the week, but the instant solution ... I mean really? The hose just started spraying and Big Jim is taking his mask off? Just once, can't we go back to the Rose for a cup of the dead hoarder's wife's coffee and wait to see if the solution works during the commercial break?

obelisks in ancient times were thought to contain Gods. Many cultures had them but probably the most well known is Egypt. It was for the sun God, Ra.

And the fact that Barbie falls into this pit, yes, there's got to be something okay about it because you know they aren't going to kill Barbie. My first thought when Sam went in was, "Bumbles bounce." If you get that, huge brownie points.

Are you sure about Barbie? My friend also watches the show and he says he is sure Barbie won't survive... So far my friend well predicted all the events that are happening now in the show. I hope he is wrong about Barbie, I don't want him to die.

As for the latest episode, it was rather good. I am intrigued to know where it all ends.

I have no inside knowledge, just what I see and the book to go on, but I would be completely stunned to see Barbie die and the show continue ... Once it gets to the final episodes, all bets are off, but he is one of the central characters to the story and a ratings draw at that.

Same here! :) I hope Pauline shows up soon and gives us some answers! And I'm trying to think what that obelisk means...did Melanie call it a "zenith?"

I watched the last part of the episode again to make sure I heard everything correctly. After the pink stars form the image of the obelisk, Junior says, "I saw that in my dream." Then Melanie says, "I've seen it too... years ago. It's in my hometown... Zenith."

Does Zenith sound like the name of a town on earth :umm:

Thank you! I didn't catch the "hometown" part...which just shows how short my attention span is lol...hmm never heard of a town called Zenith...looked it up on Google, and there's a ghost town named "Zenith" in Kansas...probably doesn't mean anything :/

IT HAS TO BE A TOWN IN SPACE RIGHT?! Or a town in Mid-World we haven't even heard of! (yes, still pushing that idea...;)[/SPOILER

I like the idea of it being a town in Mid-World :) If I'm interpreting Mid-World correctly as being an alternate world within the known world. Dangit TG, I've never had the desire to read the DT books until you started talking about them. I did read The Gunslinger twice, then found out it had been revised and didn't want to read it a third time. I do NOT like Roland. I've been told he becomes a better person but I'm having a hard time buying it.

Y'know... so much of the story has been changed, maybe there are no aliens in the tv series at all. How far along are you on the UTD audio cd's?

Me too! I think SK created such a vast and expanded universe, that really I imagine there is so much to it, more than we were introduced to in the DT books. I think it would make sense, why not! ;) Oh, you really should pick them up! Personally for me, it took me a while to get into The Gunslinger, then when I read The Drawing of the Three...everything changed. Roland does change, and that's what I love about the DT books, is slowly learning about these characters piece by piece and watching them evolve :) I hope you give it another shot!

As for UTD, I did finish it! I liked it lot (waaaay better than the series, and more brutal, of course as this is Mr. King) You know...the destination of getting there, the "leatherheads," I was a little disappointed by...still mulling over that ending...so I hope the TV goes a different way, too, I agree with you! :D

I was disappointed in the leatherheads too :(

If the town's name has anything to do with the definition of zenith, maybe they have to descend into the depths in order to emerge to the heights... which might be carrying the idea too far lol

There was another scene in which the exterior of the dome was shown and it wasn't devastated. I guess that bomb only destroyed the area around the dome where it hit. Since the dome is allowing some air flow, I was worried it was also allowing radiation to enter.

I liked the characters' journey's :D I thought that Junior and his dad in the novel were very terrifying

I'm just nodding and going with your theory! :) Can the "abyss" lead to Zenith? Perhaps?
