Just don't make it anonymous. My grandma, very cool lady, sent me a Valentine card when I was in college. She didn't sign it. I wasn't going out with anyone in the college, and I was pondering with real curiosity which of my classmates might've sent me that. I laughed when she told me it was her, but my mirth was hollow.
Nah - I gave it directly to him (it was a handmade card) - he seemed to appreciate it ♥

So far today, the only person to wish me happy Valentine's day is my friend who forgot to tell me he was married for two years.......

I went to the store to pick up a card and something else. Never seen so many unaccompanied guys in a grocery store in my life, and they were all clustered around the flowers and cards and holiday aisle with the chocolates.

To be fair, I was one of them. For the card section, anyway.

I skipped past the VD specialty cards and went to the more standard card rack of birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, romance, friendship. I found a nice "love you" one.

No flowers. I already bring home flowers on occasion, so it wouldn't be special. I went to the gift card section and got a movie gift card. We hardly go out anymore, because money and crowds and general bother. I wrote my standard love note in the card and on the bottom put (will you go out with me?), stuck the gift card in it, and sealed it up.

It was well received.

Grandma will love your gifts!! They come from the heart! Enjoy that "movie date".

If you're single, don't waste your time obsessing about how much you hate Valentine's Day. Spend time with your parents. They won't be around forever. Go to the gym. Read a good book. Do some painting or drawing. Watch your favorite band's concert on youtube. Try out a new food or recipe. Listen to metal albums while you crank up your heating pad. Do something. Anything but feeling sorry for yourself.
