1. Do you have ceiling fans?
I've got one in the dining room and one in the bedroom. You know what's weird? Most people -- when they get older -- seem to become more averse to cold than hot (or maybe it's not really the cold . . . maybe it's just the slippery in the winter). I can't stand the heat (Everybody say it with me: Then get out of the kitchen!). I tell people I moved from Florida to Minnesota and most of them look at me as if they hope whatever I have isn't catching.
2. What color is your bathroom?
Mostly forest green among the linens and art. There are palm trees on my shower curtain -- which is a flavor of gold -- for some reason, so the green seems to work pretty well. But I've got plenty of black towels for when I get sick of it.
3. Do you have/grow flowers in your home?
Not per se, but I do have a lot of green plants. Philodendrons seem to thrive at my house, for whatever reason. And also ... they all seem to be named Phyllis, which is an oddity. And I've got one of those Asian trees that are supposed to bring financial providence. So far, it's just a theory.
4. How do you listen to your music? (stereo, phone, etc.)
I wear headphones when I work out, which is about the only time I listen to music. When I'm just hanging out at home, I'm more likely to listen to talk radio. Here's a tip: When you start talking back to the talk radio, it's time to go outside and meet some people.
5. Are you making a Thanksgiving dinner this year, or going to someone's house instead?
No.
6. Do you get along with your family members?
Oh, swimmingly. Here's another tip: If you have trouble relating to your family for whatever reason, go far away from them. It works wonders for dynamic.
7. What's your favorite genre of movies?
Comedy. Of course, I have a very broad definition of that genre. Perhaps you've seen me use the word "funny" in about a billion different ways on the board. To me, a movie like -- for instance -- Sling Blade, is a comedy. Ditto: Birdman. Comedy doesn't always make me laugh . . . but it always makes me think.
8. Have you started any Christmas shopping?
I like the idea of Christmas. At its best, Christmas helps a certain kind of person to remember things that such a person tends to forget. Christmas shopping, on the other hand, defeats this purpose entirely.
9. How many lights are in your living room?
I have a reading lamp with five separate heads, of which I use one. But I've got one of those five-foot wide TV sets on the wall. So . . . one . . . or two . . . or six . . . or . . .
10. Do you play video games?
I do not. I can remember being 12 or 13 years old (maybe 11), and my best friend had one of those Coleco Vision things that only some of you will know about. I always wanted to play Pong or Tank Battle (that's all there was in those days) whenever I went over to his house, but he was bored with it by the time we met and would rather play outside. He was right, of course.
