WEEKLY SURVEY-AUG 9, 2015
1) Is there a song/artist that set your taste in music? Leon Russell, I felt the words of his songs spoke to me. I also liked Grateful Dead. The best concert I ever went to was a Bruce Springsteen concert in NJ, it was in a small movie theater that held about 500 people, may 1,000 at the most but I doubt it. He jumped off the stage and was walking up and down the aisles singing.
2) Do you have 'only in an emergency' underwear?
I have underwear at the bottom of the drawer that is slated to be thrown out soon. If I am forced to wear it I will buy more and then toss it out.
3) Do you believe in love at first sight?
Only if you also accept nightmare at first sight.
4) How many pets have you had in your life?
3 dogs, 1 cat, numerous fish, couple of guinea pigs,
5) When was the last time you laughed?
Watching the Daily show this week.
6) How many books can you see right now?
20-30
7) What movie have you seen the most often?
Hard to say. Could be "Fracture" I use it to teach Forensics, it conveys the concept that it doesn't matter what you know, it's what you can prove in a court of law that counts. JFK is another one that I use. I like the JFK assassination because there are very many aspects of forensic evidence that you can examine and because the only thing you know for sure is that the case has not been solved.
8) If you lost your phone, would it feel tragic?
I did lose my phone. Last summer I went swimming in the ocean with it in my pocket. I had just learned that my son had died. The loss of the phone was trivial.
9) Do you like to exercise? How?
Yes. I commute to work by bicycle. It is 7 1/2 miles each way. I calculate an ROI greater than 50% primarily due to the health benefit. If the bicycle helps me work a few extra years then the ROI will be off the chart.
10) What food makes you think of your grandma?
perhaps southern cooking.
WEEKLY SURVEY-AUG 9, 2015
1) Is there a song/artist that set your taste in music? What is it?
As a teenager, when everybody else was digging Bruce Springsteen (and I was, too) I actually gravitated more toward Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. Johnny Lyons sings orders of magnitude better than Bruce (or he used to, at any rate) and, let's face it, there simply aren't enough horns in rock -n- roll.
2) Do you have 'only in an emergency' underwear?
I don't, but maybe I should. I'm just having a little trouble trying to imagine what kind of emergency might require specific underwear (or any at all).
3) Do you believe in love at first sight?
For the longest time I didn't. I used to think that it was impossible to "love" someone you didn't know. I know differently now. Love is a living thing and, as such, it is kind of helpless at the beginning, like a baby, and also like a baby it doesn't always look the way it will when it matures. People who recognize this are the lucky ones.
4) How many pets have you had in your life?
Myriad . . . which is another way of saying I don't remember. My father was always bringing home dogs against my mother's wishes. She solved this problem by jettisoning him from our home, but she could not employ this strategy against my sister -- who preferred cats. I'm a dog person myself, and as an adult have bonded with two of the best dogs you'll ever want to meet (just like yours). You'll never have more fun than when your best friend gives birth to a litter of eight on Christmas Eve.
5) When was the last time you laughed?
I'm chuckling quietly to myself right now.
6) How many books can you see right now?
I dunno. Millions. (take a guess where I am)
7) What movie have you seen the most often?
Probably Sling Blade . . . or maybe Unforgiven. Not sure.
8) If you lost your phone, would it feel tragic?
I might not even notice.
9) Do you like to exercise? How?
I ride my bicycle -- weather permitting -- literally everywhere.
10) What food makes you think of your grandma?
Molasses cookies. People say olfactory sense memory is the strongest and I guess I believe that's right. My father's mother died when I was five and I remember her not at all. What I do remember is the way her kitchen smelled of a delightful combination of molasses and Half & Half pipe tobacco.
My mother's mother lived "away," and we only saw her on summer vacation. I never saw her cook once in my life. Imagine that.
Laughing my head off at the answers to question #2! I should have been clearer: "Do you have underwear you would only wear if there were no others available?" HAHAHAHA! "I'm just having a little trouble trying to imagine what kind of emergency might require specific underwear" is tickling me to death
Okay, I had such a pair of underwear years ago. They were ugly but comfortable and I rarely wore them. But once they got mixed in with my son's laundry and he went to preschool with them in his pants leg. At the time, he still needed help with toileting so at some point one of the aides had to have encountered the panties, but they never mentioned them. I found them when he got home from school. I was mortified!!!
I think he must be pretty optimistic since I assume he's rich and agnostic.1. What are the chances of you and your friend/family members ever attending a King Kong? Zero.

5. If you work, are you happy at your place of employment and if so, how long do you think you will continue to work there? I'll probably get fired. I'm too outspoken
6. Pick one (if you had a choice) - win the lottery and share it with family/friends or give most of it to charity once all your most important needs are met? I'd help my family and friends first.
7. Would you find it hard to delete your Facebook account? If you don't have an account, skip this question or write n/a. My family uses it, so in that way, it would be hard but overall, it's boring.
8. What kind of undies do you wear? Knickers for those who are in NZ, Australia, Ireland, England, Scotland etc. Normal bikini style black.
9. If you are married, how long has it been and did you have a small or large wedding? 13 years small and cheap!
10. Do you think Stephen King is an optimist or a pessimist and what do you suppose his take on the state of humanity is? I think he must be pretty optimistic since I assume he's rich and agnostic.
